Senior Electrical Design Engineer (Contract)

Pay: $62.00-$81.70/hour

Our client is seeking a highly skilled Senior Electrical Design Engineer to support the design, development, testing, and production of advanced electrical power systems for aerospace and lighter-than-air (LTA) vehicle applications. This contract opportunity is ideal for an experienced engineer with expertise in power distribution, controls, system integration, and aerospace-grade electrical design.

Key Responsibilities



  • Design and develop electrical and electronic systems for aerospace vehicles and ground support equipment.
  • Lead electrical power system design, analysis, load studies, capacity planning, and optimization efforts.
  • Develop electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and production-ready engineering documentation.
  • Support instrumentation, controls, communications systems, PLCs, VFDs, and power distribution systems.
  • Participate in system integration, troubleshooting, validation, and first-article testing activities.
  • Conduct design reviews and ensure compliance with customer, safety, and regulatory requirements.
  • Collaborate with engineering, manufacturing, quality, and program management teams.
  • Provide technical leadership and mentorship to junior engineers.
  • Travel occasionally to North Carolina manufacturing facilities to support production and testing.



Qualifications



  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering.
  • 10+ years of electrical design engineering experience.
  • Strong background in electrical power systems, transformers, power distribution, and system analysis.
  • Experience creating manufacturing-ready engineering documentation.
  • Hands-on experience with system integration, testing, and troubleshooting.
  • Aerospace, aviation, defense, or related industry experience strongly preferred.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and problem-solving skills.
  • Active U.S. Secret Clearance is a plus but not required.
