The Electrical Specialist is responsible for ensuring the reliability of new product development and transformer innovation projects, focusing his efforts and experience on meeting our end user's requirements with competitive solutions in quality, efficiency, cost and compliance with the applicable standards. The Electrical Specialist acts as the technical authority for special customers and ensures that commitments to internal and external clients are fulfilled during the implementation of new products. The role is responsible for guiding design engineers in the execution of complex and designs, ensuring the technical robustness and reliability of the final integrated solutions. Additionally, the specialist provides technical support to design engineering teams, manufacturing operations, and customers, including design reviews, manufacturing support, and technical issues resolutions. The position also has responsibility for the technical training and mentoring of new engineers, promoting best engineering practices and ensuring consistent application of design criteria to achieve reliable, high-quality transformer designs throughout the product lifecycle.

PRINCIPLE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Define project objectives aligned with business strategy and manage project execution throughout the project life cycle, anticipating risks and unforeseen events to ensure effective planning and delivery.
  • Advise and technically support the design team in the generation, analytical evaluation, and experimental validation of design concepts addressing innovation, competitiveness, and regulatory compliance.
  • Establish and support the development of technical competencies of the design team through appropriate plans, knowledge sharing, tools, and mechanisms aligned with business and technological needs.
  • Review and approve design concepts prior to the initiation of new designs (Yellow and Red designs according to product scope), generating and assessing alternative technical solutions for special or non-standard requirements to ensure performance, safety, and regulatory compliance.
  • Review, evaluate, and approve technical documentation generated during the development of technological platforms, ensuring compliance with applicable standards, internal procedures, safety, reliability, and product competitiveness.
  • Provide advanced technical support to the design team, participate in failure review committees, and support root cause analysis and the implementation of corrective and preventive actions.
  • Audit the design process and support continuous improvement initiatives focused on design cycle time reduction, best engineering practices, and manufacturing constraints.
  • Act as a technical interface with internal and external customers through meetings, visits, and calls, providing technical support across design, quotation, manufacturing, materials, quality, sales, service, purchasing, and procurement functions, and handling technical requests related to implemented projects.
  • Coordinate with Engineering, Manufacturing, and Finance functions to ensure the timely deployment and effective use of released technologies in accordance with expected business benefits.
  • Support the implementation of design tools in compliance with best practices and manufacturing requirements and contribute to the standardization of materials and suppliers.
  • Evaluate candidates identified by the talent Integration team to verify the technical competencies required for electrical roles in the design team.
  • Support and training for new and current team designers.
  • Ensure the confidentiality of technologies developed during projects and mitigate risks related to unauthorized disclosure or dispersion.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES

  • Descriptive and Advanced Statistics (Design of Experiments, Analysis of Variance)
  • Strong understanding of electrical design of power transformers
  • Knowledge of factory acceptance test processes (FAT)
  • Understanding of production processes and equipment pertaining to discipline
  • Finite Element Method (FEM) analysis
  • Strong understanding of design software and related design tools
  • Basic Institutional Tools (Excel, PowerPoint, etc.)
  • Knowledge of regulations and their application to transformer design

Required Education / Experience

Bachelor's degree in electrical field with 5+ years related experience. Must be fluent in English.

Preferred Education / Experience

Master's degree in related electrical or mechanical engineering field combined with 10+ years related design engineering experience. Bilingual (English and Spanish).

Key Working Relationships

Cross-functionally within Engineering and other internal stakeholder groups such as Operations, Sourcing, Test, and Sales and Marketing.

Physical Demands

Must be able to stand for extended periods of time

Working Conditions

Shop-floor and office environment, located on large manufacturing campus
