Department Summary The Office of Student Success promotes high-quality advising across UNT's advising units through coordination, training/ professional development, and leadership support. Our advising team offers pathways counseling to prospective and current students, TSI advising, and academic preparedness resources. The office is located in the Academic Success Center at Sage Hall. Position Overview The Academic Counselor is responsible for working with students to seamlessly on board them into the university, by evaluating and assessing TSI status and advising course placement. The position will be responsible for implementing evidence-based and student-centric programming through high-impact practices to promote success within our first and second year student populations. Minimum Qualifications Master's degree and two years of experience in student affairs, student services, counseling, professional academic advising, or related experience. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities * Considerable knowledge of University policies and procedures related to functional area (or ability to rapidly assimilate). Preferred Qualifications *Experience in an advising office counseling or advising students, and/or working with at-risk populations Required License/Registration/Certifications Job Duties
