OVERVIEW

This role requires strong leadership, problem-solving, and relationship-building skills to support staff development, operational goals, patient safety, and high-quality patient care. The individual supervises nursing and technical staff, ensures compliance with accreditation and radiation safety standards, participates in performance improvement initiatives, and partners with leadership to maintain a skilled, patient-focused team. Additional responsibilities include staff evaluations, scheduling, mentoring, budget support, equipment and supply coordination, and promoting excellence in patient experience and service.

Schedule: 40 hours per week

Shift: Monday to Friday Day Shift Hours with 24/7 Accountability

Location: Javon Bea Hospital - Rockford, IL

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Strong problem-solving abilities in complex situations.

  • Ability to work within the budget and productivity targets to meet organizational objectives. Participates and supports the plans in place for selection of staff, evaluation of staff, orientation of new staff, continued education and development of staff, competency evaluation of staff, appropriate scheduling of staff based on patient acuity.

  • Supports and partners with the Manager/Clinical Leader and ensures the knowledge, skills, and behaviors of staff are consistent and in alignment with the goals of the unit.

  • Outstanding relationship building skills.

  • Must possess strong physician relationship skills.

  • Patient focused with a strong commitment to delivering the highest levels of quality, safety, and customer service. Is accountable for achievement of patient satisfaction (PressGaney and HCAHPS) action plans to achieve targets for their areas of responsibility.

  • Supports process improvement in operations, quality, and organizational change identified for their areas.

  • Knowledge of accreditation and certification requirements and standards for their areas of responsibility.

  • Implements and monitors radiation safety measures to ensure safety of patients and staff and compliance with government regulatory requirements.

  • Helps coordinates purchase of supplies and equipment.

  • Able to communicate effectively and persuasively with individuals and groups through compassion, creativity, and consistent visibility.

  • Participates in hospital and department committees.

  • Demonstrated ability in developing and mentoring staff and colleagues.

  • Leads by example, consistently demonstrating highly professional behavior. Demonstrates personal and professional accountability and holds others to the same.

  • Exhibits a passion for nursing

  • Serves as a role model and coach for Critical Moments of Service Standards and service recovery.

  • Participates in department or unit performance improvement activities, may include shared governance.

  • Utilizes critical thinking in regards to patient safety and patient experience and appropriately escalates to the appropriate chain of command.

  • Supports the professional nurse continuum and nursing clinical ladder for RNs (CARE)

  • Directly supervises CVI RNs, Pre & Post RNs and Technologists . Supervisory responsibilities are carried out in accordance with management

  • Include supervisory responsibilities such as employee evaluations, performance management, and timekeeping as applicable.

  • Other duties as assigned based on department need

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE

Minimum Required:

  • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing, Completion of the appropriate Mercyhealth Clinic Ladder Program if applicable BSN or upon hire BSN completion agreement for enrollment in an accredited BSN program OR

  • Associate's Degree in Radiologic Technology OR

  • Associate's Degree in Cardiovascular Technology with RCIS certification

CERTIFICATION/LICENSURE

Minimum Required:

  • Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers

  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support certification (ACLS) issued by the American Heart Association (AHA) needs to be obtained within six (6) months

  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) issued by the American Heart Association (AHA) needs to be obtained within six (6) months

  • National Institute for Health Stroke Scale (NIHSS) to be obtained within six (6) months

  • Registered Nurse license issued by the state in which the team member practices (WI & IL) OR

  • Registered Technologist (RT) registration issued by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) OR

  • Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist registration (RCIS) issued by the Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI)

OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES

Ability to follow both written and oral instructions accurately and consistently.

LEVEL OF SUPERVISION

General Supervision: The supervisor provides general guidelines, priorities, and deadlines, but the employee is expected to use initiative to complete recurring tasks independently. Specific instructions are given only for new or unusual situations.

PAY RANGE:

$79,133.91 - $126,614.26
