Overview

The Technical Manager is a senior, detail-oriented role that reports to the Operations and Standardization Manager. The TM oversees day-to-day management of field staff (inspectors) and analysts, responsible for direct client engagement, ensuring the Trade Ally network meets program requirements, and programmatic risk assessment, reporting and auditing.

As a Subject Matter Expert (SME) in all aspects of energy efficiency project verification site visits, the TM will manage the inspection pipeline and inquiries and will serve as main Point of Contact (POC) between the program management and project teams. The TM conducts site inspections for commercial and industrial energy efficiency projects. The TM ensures that the Program is operating within its guidelines and procedures, and in compliance with client contracts. The TM ensures safety protocols are implemented, analyzes program risk, identifies gaps, and reports findings to management. The TM ensures compliance with internal and external audits.

The TM is responsible for tracking performance against goals, reporting (weekly/monthly/annual), maintaining program documentation, and advising on resource utilization. The TM supervises field inspectors, resolves project issues, and ensures quality and client satisfaction. Must possess a can-do attitude and be willing to wear multiple hats.


Responsibilities

  • Supervise field staff, project processors, and analysts.
  • Ensure quality and safety standards are maintained in daily operations.
  • Validate project processing aligns with program rules, client requirements, and industry best practices.
  • Develop and maintain QA/QC logs, plans, procedures, and supporting documentation.
  • Develop and maintain safety guidelines and operational procedures.
  • Ensure data accuracy, validity, and compliance with program requirements and best practices.
  • Serve as primary interface with client and safety teams.
  • Maintain up-to-date program manuals aligned with best practices and client directives.
  • Analyze project trends and identify deviations from program requirements.
  • Conduct gap analyses and develop training to address inconsistencies.
  • Develop and deliver training sessions to internal and external stakeholders.
  • Conduct ad hoc investigations and risk assessments; propose mitigation strategies.
  • Perform program assessments and maintain structured review processes.
  • Identify contractor/trade ally trends impacting program performance.
  • Develop, test and improve t program documentation, tools, workflows and reporting.
  • Ensure data accuracy, validity and compliance with program requirements and best practices.
  • Supervise site inspections and ensure compliance with program requirements
  • Field Operations:
  • Coordinate and schedule site visits and inspections across New Jersey.
  • Confirm scopes of work align with applications and records.
  • Conduct inspections to document conditions and verify compliance.
  • Develop inspection reports with findings, photos, and action items.
  • Manage team workflow and review pipeline reporting.
  • Ensure deliverables are completed on time and within budget.
  • Communicate effectively with all stakeholders.
  • Develop, monitor and manage KPIs for field staff.

Qualifications

  • 5 years' experience in energy efficiency, QA/QC, or field supervision.
  • Authorization to work in the United States.
  • Reliable means of transportation and valid driver's license.
  • Bachelor's degree, or Associate's degree with 4+ years of relevant experience.
  • Knowledge of building science (mechanical, electrical, weatherization).
  • Strong computer and record-keeping skills: proficiency in MS Office and use of Customer Relationship Management (CRM).
  • Ability to work with effectively with diverse stakeholders.
  • Able to operate at an intermediate level in the Microsoft Office suite of programs.
  • Experience with Customer Relationship Management (CRM) software.
  • Ability to create flowcharts and write technical documentation.
  • Primarily field work/site visits supported by in-office meetings/focus time. Office located in New Brunswick, NJ.
  • Additional Preferred Qualifications
  • Previous experience conducting Energy Efficiency Inspections for commercial and/or industrial buildings.
  • Residency in a region identified by the State of New Jersey as an Overburdened Community
  • Critical thinking, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent oral and written communications skills.
  • Team-oriented, hands-on, adaptive, and client-focused.
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills.

Compensation: In accordance with local law, the below salary range is applicable for the job and location associated with this requisition. Compensation will vary based upon experience, education, skill level, geographical location, and other compensable factors.

Other Compensation:Employee may be eligible for participation in the Company's annual Discretionary Bonus Program which is contingent on Company, Business Segment, and Individual performance against Key Performance Indicators which vary by year and employee.
