What to Expect

Tesla is seeking a driven Systems Engineer to own the design, deployment, and continuous improvementof intelligent automation systems across our world-class manufacturing facilities. You will sit at the intersection of software, hardware, and data - architecting full-stack supervisory applications, AGV/AMR platforms, vision-based inspection pipelines, and the containerized server infrastructure that ties it all together. This is a high-impact role in a fast-paced environment where your work directly influences factory uptime, throughput, and quality.

What You'll Do
  • Architect and develop full-stack HMI / SCADA applications (Ignition preferred) for supervisorycontrol, operatordashboards, fault management, and real-time data visualization across production lines
  • Lead AGV / AMR system integration, commissioning, and lifecycle support - including fleetmanagement software, traffic control logic, and interface with warehouse execution systems(WES/WMS)
  • Design and deploy vision-based inspection andperceptionpipelines using YOLO models andother deep-learning frameworks for defect detection, object classification, and spatial localization inmanufacturing environments
  • Build andmaintaincontainerized microservices (Docker, Docker Compose, Kubernetes) to hostSCADA servers, REST/gRPCAPIs, model inference endpoints, and data pipelines
  • Develop organized, well-documented full-stack web applications (React / JavaScript front end; Go, Java, or Python back end) integrated with Tesla SSO and third-party factory systems
  • Create andmaintainSQL databases and reporting infrastructure; write scripting and automation fordata ingestion, KPI tracking, and operational analytics
  • Define and enforce software engineering best practices: version control (Git), code reviews, CI/CDpipelines, monitoring, logging, and documentation standards
  • Lead system design reviews and serve as the technical liaison between production, maintenance,IT, and external vendors/suppliers
  • Establishtest plans, risk assessments, and validation protocols prior to deployment; drive continuous process improvement by analyzing system metrics and implementing corrective actions to maximize cycle time and uptime
  • Develop training programs and technical documentation for operators and maintenance staff; serve as on-call point of contact for critical system issues, including occasional weekend support

What You'll Bring
  • Degree in Mechatronics, Systems Engineering, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering,Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent hands-on experience
  • 3+ years of professional experience in automation, systems, or controls/equipment engineering onelectromechanical systems
  • Proven experience building and deploying Ignition Perspective module SCADA / HMI applications, including API anddatabase integration, historical data, alarming, and user-role management
  • Hands-on experience with AGV / AMR commissioning and fleet management, familiarity withvendors such as Dematic, Daifuku, Swisslog, JBT, Seer, or equivalent, exposure to MQTT, OPC-UA, or other industrial communication protocols
  • Demonstrated ability to train and deploy YOLO-based (or similar) computer vision models forindustrial inspection, object detection, or spatial reasoning tasks
  • Familiarity with ASRS (Automated Storage & Retrieval Systems) and conveyor control architectures
  • Experience with Linux server administration , shell scripting, system services, log management, and performance tuning
  • Rigorous software development practices: Git, pull-request workflows, CI/CD (GitHub Actions,Jenkins, or equivalent), monitoring, and observability
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills; ability to present complex technical programs clearlyto diverse audiences including leadership, operations, and vendors
  • Experience with vision system hardware (Keyence, Cognex, Sick, or similar) and integration ofcamera feeds into software pipelines - a strong plus
