Description
Position Summary: Financial Education Interns support financial literacy opportunities and help to represent the Credit Union and affiliate brands through relatable, inclusive, and accessible education. Interns assist with identifying knowledge gaps and concepts to consider and creating financial education content. The MSUFCU Internship Program is designed to support interns in developing career readiness competencies as defined by NACE. Throughout the internship program, interns will gain hands-on experience and enhance essential skills that prepare them for success and career growth. Interns will have the opportunity to develop competencies in career and self-development, communication, critical thinking, equity and inclusion, leadership, professionalism, teamwork, and technology. Work Location: Onsite; Headquarters campus in East Lansing, MI Work Schedule: Part-Time approximately 15-24 hours during MSUFCU Office Hours (8:30am-5:00pm); A schedule will be determined around the intern's class schedule. Occasional assignments to work at special events during evenings and weekends. Paid Hourly Internship: $16/hour Duration: Fall Semester beginning August 26th, with potential to continue during the school year An offer of employment with MSU Federal Credit Union and affiliates is contingent upon the agreed work arrangement (onsite/hybrid/remote) and work location. MSU Federal Credit Union may or may not be able to accommodate temporary or permanent changes to work arrangements or allow employment outside the city and/or state of residency in which the new hire resides at the time of offered employment. Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Understand the Credit Union's policies and procedures to ensure compliance and accountability for managing operational risks. Adhere to established internal controls and procedures to safeguard assets, prevent fraud, and maintain the integrity of credit union operations.
- Assist with department programs and projects with guidance from mentor and leadership
- Research, evaluate, design, develop, and compose accessible content (blogs, scripts, quizzes, videos, podcasts, modules, etc.) for diverse audiences
- Attend financial literacy and community events within local communities
- Identify new content and formatting ideas and needs
- Participate in department meetings and professional development trainings
- Help to maintain results and data from financial education programs and projects
- Seek professional development opportunities and maintain an understanding of financial trends impacting financial literacy content
Job Requirements
- High school diploma required
- Actively pursuing Associate or Bachelor degree with a preference for areas of marketing, communications, journalism, education, graphic design, business, or related major
- 1-2 years of previous work experience preferred, but not required
- Ability to commute to events in Lansing, East Lansing, and surrounding communities
- Demonstrates empathy and a commitment to providing superior member service
- Must be proficient in Microsoft Office with a desired proficiency in Adobe InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator and GoAnimate.

- Ability to be a self-starter and work successfully in a team-oriented environment

Physical Demands and Work Environment
- Ability to operate standard office technology, equipment, and tools, which may include many hours of computer and phone usage.

- May be required to remain in a stationary position for an extended period of time.
- This position can work in hybrid or onsite working arrangements.
