Job Description

Tower Semiconductor is seeking a Process Engineer to join our Photo department, supporting sustaining operations, process improvements, process transfers, and development activities within our high-volume manufacturing facility in San Antonio, TX. Our San Antonio fab is a dynamic and growing manufacturing site dedicated to delivering specialty electronic devices across a diverse range of applications, distinguished by exceptional quality, competitive cost structures, and superior cycle times.

The ideal candidate is self-motivated, with strong technical and analytical capabilities, combined with a practical, hands-on approach to solving complex engineering challenges.

Development Opportunities

  • Building deep electro-mechanical technical expertise through exposure to a wide range of engineering principles.
  • Participating in engineering project development and hands-on application related to continuous tool improvement.
  • Gaining specialized tool knowledge through direct exposure to tool OEMs and second-source suppliers.

This Job Is For You If:

  • Take ownership of assigned processes and set direction for improvements, sustaining, and overall operations
  • Collaborate with process and integration engineers to enhance process metrics (SPC, yield, parametrics, defects) and ensure first-pass success of technology transfers
  • Take ownership of selection and qualification of semiconductor processing tools
  • Monitor fab metrics using statistical process control (SPC)
  • Conduct root cause investigations of discrepant material and implement yield and defect improvement projects
  • Write operating specifications and provide technical training to wafer fab personnel
  • Partner with equipment engineering to improve uptime and tool utilization
  • Troubleshoot process and tool excursions
  • Identify cost savings opportunities and drive projects to reduce overall costs
  • Implement advanced process control to improve Cpk at critical levels
  • Ensure proper matching of newly installed equipment to support production ramp
  • Develop new semiconductor manufacturing processes using design of experiments (DOE)

Job Requirements

Must Have:

  • M.S. or Ph.D. in a relevant field, or B.S. with 5+ years of related experience
  • Coursework in semiconductor processing technology, device physics, and statistics is highly desirable.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
