Job Summary

The Expeditor - Imports supports the supply chain and procurement teams by tracking inbound domestic and international shipments, maintaining shipment visibility, and ensuring accurate and timely updates within internal systems. This role serves as a key operational partner to buyers, managing shipment tracking activities and vendor communications to support on-time delivery of products. The position requires strong analytical skills, advanced Excel proficiency, attention to detail, and the ability to coordinate effectively with suppliers, carriers, and internal stakeholders in a fast-paced environment.

Job Responsibilities



  • Track inbound domestic and international purchase orders from shipment through final delivery.
  • Monitor shipment milestones, estimated arrival dates, transit status, customs clearance, and delivery schedules.
  • Update shipment status, arrival dates, and tracking information within ERP and supply chain systems.
  • Maintain and manage shipment tracking documentation using advanced Microsoft Excel functions and reporting tools.
  • Pull, analyze, and update shipment data from multiple sources, including ERP systems, shipment visibility platforms, carrier websites, and internal databases.
  • Identify shipment delays, exceptions, and at-risk deliveries and communicate issues to buyers and internal stakeholders.
  • Manage vendor and supplier communications regarding shipment status, delivery schedules, documentation requirements, and issue resolution.
  • Coordinate with freight forwarders, customs brokers, carriers, and logistics partners to maintain shipment visibility.
  • Review shipping documentation for accuracy and completeness, including commercial invoices, packing lists, and bills of lading.
  • Support prioritization of critical shipments based on business requirements and operational needs.
  • Generate and maintain reports to identify shipment gaps, open orders, and follow-up actions.
  • Collaborate closely with assigned buyers to support procurement and supply chain objectives.
  • Maintain accurate records and provide timely status updates to cross-functional teams.


Job Requirements



  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including:

    • VLOOKUP
    • IF statements
    • Concatenate functions
    • Formulas and data analysis
    • Spreadsheet maintenance and reporting


  • Experience tracking domestic and/or international shipments.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience managing vendor, supplier, and carrier communications.
  • Ability to organize, prioritize, and manage multiple ongoing tasks simultaneously.
  • Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with cross-functional teams.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Outlook and Microsoft Teams.
  • Experience working with ERP, supply chain, logistics, or shipment-tracking systems.


Education



  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Associate's degree or bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Logistics, Business, or a related field preferred.


Work Experience



  • 1-3 years of experience in logistics, supply chain, import operations, expediting, buyer support, or a related field.
  • Experience supporting imported products, shipment coordination, or transportation logistics preferred.
  • Experience working with freight forwarders, customs brokers, suppliers, or carriers preferred.
  • Experience utilizing SQL-generated reports, Microsoft Access databases, or similar data management tools preferred.
  • Experience with Power BI reporting and dashboard tools preferred.
  • Familiarity with shipment visibility platforms, transportation management systems, or ERP systems preferred.
