The BNSF Railway Finance Department provides innovative strategic solutions and world-class financial services to support BNSF's overall performance. Within the Finance Department, several specialized departments contribute to its overall mission: Controller, Revenue Management, Strategic Sourcing, Tax, Treasury, and Strategic Studies. Each department is vital in managing BNSF's financial health and strategic financial planning. These departments work collaboratively to secure BNSF's economic stability and support its growth and innovation within the railway industry. This is a full-time positionlocated in Fort Worth, TX. For certain positions, including this one, employees can work one day per week remotely. Travel is minimal to none About the Role: The Property Accounting team is responsible for the accurate capitalization, reporting, settlement, and depreciation of the company's fixed asset base - one of the largest on any Class I railroad balance sheet. This role sits on thesystems sideof the team, owning the SAP Project Systems (PS) processes, settlement rules, and reporting logic that drive how billions of dollars of annual capital spend land on the books. Key responsibilities may include: Partnerwith Engineering, Signal, Technology, Mechanical, and other capital budget teams to weigh in on capital vs operating determinations and capital project in-service timelines. Ownthe end-to-end fixed asset settlement process, ensuring capital projects settle accurately, timely, and in accordance with company policy and regulatory requirements. Create and reviewsystem rules for completed capital projects to ensure costs settle to proper asset classes and locations. Analyze and usecritical thinking skills to determine source and cause of settlement variances and finding way to correct and prevent them. Identify and support opportunities to automate processes and reporting across the Capital Investment Accounting group, leveraging modern reporting and analytics tools (e.g. Power BI, SQL) to replace manual workflows, accelerate close and analysis cycles, and surface insights for the team and business partners. Assistwith ad-hoc projects to ensure accurate asset records and proper depreciation expense. Handlead-hoc capital spend or book value requests from Studies, Tax, and Cost teams. Prepareannual and quarterly R-1, Form D, and SOX control deliverables. Prepare and analyzedepreciation studies and other internal studies, identify and explain trends. BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:
