The Department of Anatomy and Neurobiology is a world-leading neuroscience department where discoveries at the molecular, anatomical, and physiological levels are seamlessly integrated to the development of new treatments for neurological diseases.

The mission of the Department of Microbiology & Molecular Genetics is to promote biomedical discoveries and translational medicine through excellence in research, education, and community service. The Department of Microbiology & Molecular Genetics at UCI School of Medicine is at the forefront of the new and exciting discoveries being made in modern microbiology and molecular genetics. We are a vibrant community of scientific investigators actively engaged in innovative research, discovery, training and teaching in microbiology and molecular genetics. We provide faculty research, training programs for undergraduate and graduate students and outreach functions as part of the mission of UC Irvine's School of Medicine.


Your Role on the Team

Under general supervision of the Chief Administrative Officer, the incumbent independently evaluates and processes requisitions for the departments of Microbiology & Molecular Genetics and Anatomy & Neurobiology. Purchase transactions range across a wide variety of research and office materials, laboratory supplies, services, and equipment that is often of a technical and specialized nature. Procurement responsibilities include but are not limited to identifying potential vendors, obtaining quotations, evaluating proposals, coordination with Purchasing and Risk Services for orders in excess of $5000, and problem resolution related to order, delivery, returned goods, and/or billing. Purchasing responsibilities also include maintaining accurate and complete supporting documentation per campus guidelines. The incumbent serves as the Department Buyer in UCIBuy+ responsible for reviewing, editing, and approving purchase requisitions initiated by faculty and staff, ensuring accuracy and compliance with department and University policy. Responsibilities include extensive knowledge of University policies and procedures as they pertain to procurement, accounting, basic contract and grant regulations, and business rules. The incumbent will serve as a liaison for purchasing and accounts payable issues, interacting with faculty, staff, campus purchasing, vendors, accounts payable, and department administration. Requires the ability to process a very high volume of daily requests while maintaining official department and university accounting and purchasing records.

  • Ability to work effectively in a team setting and maintain effective working relationships with faculty, staff and peers
  • Bachelor's degree in related area and / or equivalent experience / training
  • 2 years of related work experience

Preferred:

  • Knowledge of University policy and procedures
  • Experience with the University KFS and UCI Buy+ systems
  • Experience with KFS data entry

Special Conditions:

  • Hybrid works schedule with days in basic science campus building and at home
