Job Description
Summary This position provides support to the Office of Human Resources in the areas of payroll, recruitment, data entry and management, reporting, and record keeping. The position also serves as a partner in the areas of budgeting, event planning and support, and training coordination. Essential Functions
- Coordinate HR transactions (hires, pay changes, separations, etc.) while ensuring accuracy and compliance with university policies and regulations. This position will oversee the completion of HR documentation, ensuring all necessary information is submitted before processing for their assigned units. Utilizing knowledge, experience, and data, this position may make suggestions on streamlining, operational efficiencies, reducing errors and delays across various projects and processes.
- Support HR systems and processes. This includes handling employee actions like job changes, payroll adjustments, and separations in a timely and accurate manner. This position assists the Business Support Specialist in central timekeeping functions, ensuring payroll is processed correctly and on time for assigned units, preventing pay errors, and utilizing multiple resources (Excel, Teams, Outlook, policies, etc.) to research discrepancies to offer resolution.
- Prepare reports and conduct data analysis to assist HR and finance teams in decision-making. Using Excel, you will compile data on employee appointments and recruitment metrics, identifying trends and areas for improvement. This position will provide insights and feedback to help shape more informed strategies and enhance overall operational performance.
- Assist with project management for HR initiatives, such as training programs, compensation planning, and employee relations projects. This position will collaborate with department leaders to schedule, plan, and execute key HR initiatives. Additionally, this position will provide essential administrative support, ensuring projects are delivered on time and meet organizational objectives.
- Support employee and manager documentation preparation. This position will guide managers and employees through document processes, ensuring they understand requirements and deadlines. The attention to detail will ensure that records are properly maintained and in line with HR policies.
Shift
Monday - Friday, 8am - 5pm This position may require evening and weekend hours supporting activities and programs within the department. Occasionally division and campus projects may require additional hours outside of your normal schedule.
Minimum Qualifications
A Bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience and at least 2 years of experience from which comparable knowledge and skills can be acquired is necessary.
Preferred Qualifications
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, VLOOKUP, data analysis) and experience working with HR databases and reporting tools.
- Awareness of HR processes and regulations, including payroll, compensation, and compliance.
- Experience in project management, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
- Excellent initiative, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills, with a track record of identifying process improvements.
- Demonstrated attention to detail and commitment to maintaining data accuracy and integrity.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams and provide clear guidance to employees and managers.
- Experience in HR systems such as PeopleSoft or similar platforms is highly preferred.
Anticipated Hiring Range
