GENERAL SUMMARY: The Clinical Educator works with managers, directors, staff and physicians to implement and evaluate professional education courses/programs and life-saving courses for healthcare professionals, non-professionals and the lay public. The Clinical Educator is accountable for clinical practice educational initiatives to guide the transition of knowledge of various care providers into clinical bedside practice. Interprets and adheres to the American Nurses Credentialing Center, Nebraska Nurses Association, Nebraska State Board of Nursing, and American Heart Association requirements to ensure program provision standards are met. PRINCIPAL JOB FUNCTIONS: 1. *Commits to the mission, vision, beliefs and consistently demonstrates our core values. 2. *As assigned by the Continuing Education Manager, works independently or with planning committee to coordinate courses/programs that range from entry level to advanced nursing continuing education: * Develops and facilitates clinical practice education to various internal customers. * Designs and facilitates comprehensive orientation programs which support integration and success in the clinical environment. * Coordinates program for internal and external professional customers in alignment with the organization's mission & vision, goals, priorities and resources while adhering to the appropriate credentialing criteria. * Processes programs for peer review and non-peer review as appropriate. * Coordinates life-saving programs (e.g., BLS, ACLS, PALS, PEARS and/or NRP). * Communicates and advertises courses/programs internally and externally 3. *Maintains learning management system denoting employee participation in courses/programs, progress toward certification requirements and clinical practice progress of new orientees. 4. *Provides an appropriate climate for learning, models appropriate adult learning principles to promote individual or group mastery of competencies and conveys nursing principles accurately and concisely in classroom and clinical settings. 5. *Participates in appropriate committees and collaborates with other Bryan staff to promote a high standard of care by licensed and non-licensed staff; participates in the development of department and organization procedures; supports department and organization decisions. 6. *Provides ongoing evaluation of the quality and effectiveness of the educational activities to ensure they maintain and enhance professional development. 7. *Participates in the ongoing development of Unit skills, knowledge and competencies for Nursing. EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: Graduation from a School of Nursing with current Registered Nurse licensure from the State of Nebraska or approved compact state of residence as defined by the Nebraska Nurse Practice Act. Bachelors of Science in Nursing required. Masters in Nursing or related field of study preferred. Minimum of three (3) years experience in nursing practice required. Prior experience in teaching preferred. | |
