THE POSITION

Do you have strong skills in inventory management and warehouse operations? Become a Corrections Stock Clerk with the Department of Corrections and take pride in work that strengthens the facility's daily functions. In this position, you will play a key part in managing supplies and ensuring accurate record keeping at the State Correctional Institution (SCI) at Huntingdon. DESCRIPTION OF WORK

This position supports storeroom and inventory functions that keep SCI Huntingdon operating safely and efficiently. The role includes training and directing inmate workers in a secure environment. As a Corrections Stock Clerk, you will perform the following duties:

  • Inmate Oversight: Direct and guide inmate workers through daily tasks and proper workplace procedures
  • Training Support: Instruct inmate workers in shipping, receiving, inventory documentation, and equipment use
  • Inventory Management: Maintain stock levels, issue supplies, and process necessary paperwork for damaged or missing goods
  • Equipment Operation: Drive vehicles and operate forklifts or hand trucks to move materials and make deliveries
  • Worksite Safety: Safeguard the work area, issue tools, and conduct searches for contraband
  • Record Preparation: Prepare routine reports related to inmate attendance, work activity, and inventory processes

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment, 40 hours per week
  • Work hours are 7:30 AM to 3:30 PM, Monday - Friday.
  • Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.
  • Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • One year of stockroom, warehouse, retail sales, or clerical experience; or
  • An equivalent combination of experience and training.

Special Requirement:

  • You must be in possession of an active motor vehicle license.

Additional Requirements:

  • Successful completion of basic training in Elizabethtown, PA is required.
  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.

  • You must pass a background investigation and meet Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) compliance requirements.
