This is a high-impact leadership role at the center of Microsoft's SMB growth agenda. You will lead a team of strategy and field enablement leaders responsible for shaping near-, mid-, and long-term growth strategy, translating priorities into scalable execution, and ensuring our field and partner ecosystem are equipped to win. The role combines strategic vision, operational discipline, and people leadership to accelerate growth, deepen customer impact, and continuously improve how we go to market.

The Senior Director - Global SMB Strategy & Growth role offers exceptional visibility and influence. You will partner closely with the Global SMB (GSMB) senior leadership team to shape executive decisions, strengthen our strategy and landing at scale, and lead through change with clarity and conviction. It is a unique opportunity to combine strategic leadership, organizational impact, and people development in one of Microsoft's most important growth areas. This role is accountable for defining and driving the strategy that enables Global SMB teams to achieve revenue, share, and consumption goals in close partnership with SMB Operating Unit sales teams, Channel, Vendor Digital Sales (VDS), Cloud and AI Solution Architects (CASA), and Marketing. This leader ensures that strategy is translated into clear execution plans, landed effectively at scale, and governed with rigor to deliver measurable business impact. Responsibilities
  • Lead the end-to-end Envision-to-Run operating system across strategy (near & long term), planning, landing, governance, and optimization assuring clear alignment from ambition to execution and from customer insight to business results.
  • Lead Global SMB strategy: Both near and long strategy. Lead across key stakeholders in PMG, CSA and SME&C to build and land SMB narrative, product truth, product positioning & strategy by customer tranche and hero GTM motion.
  • Translate strategy into scalable execution by defining priorities, operating models, governance, metrics, and execution mechanisms that drive clarity, accountability, and cross-functional alignment across GSMB, CSA, GS&O, GCPS, OUs, SUs, and partners.
  • Build a continuous learning engine that turns performance insights, field feedback, and market signals into recommendations that strengthen execution and inform future strategy.
  • Lead and develop a high-performing team by coaching, inspiring, and growing a diverse organization of strategy and sales enablement leaders across Global SMB.
  • Drive cross-functional alignment in partnership with Sales, Marketing, Engineering, and Partner teams to connect go-to-market strategy, customer engagement, and execution at scale.
  • Champion innovation and customer advocacy
  • Serve as a spokesperson for Global SMB, representing the voice of the SMB customer and helping evangelize Microsoft's solution value proposition internally and externally with customers and partners.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Marketing, Finance, Engineering, or related field AND 6+ years experience in business consulting, sales, sales operations, information technology (IT), account management, business development, marketing, IT field sales, or a related field OR equivalent experience.
  • 6+ years experience in in Near Term Strategy (2 years out), Management Consulting, Sales, or Finance.
  • 4+ years people management experience.

Sales Strategy Enablement M6 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $155,800 - $277,200 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $202,400 - $303,600 per year.
