Position Summary Position Summary and Responsibilities The Senior Manufacturing/Process Engineer will be responsible for driving, developing, evaluating and improving manufacturing processes at our manufacturing facility located in Slater, Missouri. The plant utilizes a high degree of robotics and automation, producing industrial filters for Gas Turbine Engines. The role includes providing technical direction in robotics, plant layout, equipment, assembly and other manufacturing and interacts with product engineering, manufacturing High Performance Teams and quality functions.
- Lead manufacturing process improvement activities to drive scrap reduction, machine uptime improvement, and process repeatability
- Lead projects to support productivity, and environmental, health, and safety initiatives
- Assists plant management and Supply Chain with production capacity and resource needs (people, materials, equipment) to support the Division S&OP process.
- Provide manufacturing leadership for product improvement (PI) and new product introduction (NPI) initiatives
- Supports ongoing management of robotics and automated production process
- Lead projects to support quality improvements utilizing six sigma tools
- Lead or participate in Kaizen teams as part of Lean initiatives.
- Design assembly fixturing, gaging, test equipment and general fixturing for secondary operations.
Develop new processes for new or improved products. - Coach, lead, develop and manage maintenance employees; plan, monitor, and appraise job results; identify training needs and develop objectives for employee development.
- Evaluates capital equipment investments and prepare cost justifications. Designs and prepares concept drawings of new equipment or modifications to existing equipment. Manages the overall implementations of capital equipment projects.
- Identifies and implements solutions for issues relating to safety, quality, productivity, and cost reductions.
- Coordinates with building contractors and ensures building safety and adherence to applicable building codes and related safety and environmental regulations. Ensures compliance with city, state, and federal laws, codes and insurance regulations.
Program and re-tool a multitude of machines - Pleaters etc with a good understanding of fine finishing processes. Identify and implement process improvements. Provide training to setters and operators on machines/processes. Create related documentation of existing processes and implementation of new and existing innovations (drawings, SOP, work instructions etc) Plan & test product processes from product development into full production Design & re-design tooling & product related equipment. Liaise with suppliers and customers to optimize quality, tooling and machine performances. Resolve customer issues if they arise (8D) Work in teams to drive improvements, in productivity cost & quality. Identify suitable measurement methods for products Design of Lean manufacturing cells for one-piece flow, including assembly and test / calibration processes. Design / Specification of process equipment / systems using lean methodologies, including specification of jigs / fixtures, software / database systems, and ergonomic custom benching. Problem solving to resolve issues within a manufacturing environment. Advise on design for production. Supports and participates in HPT Slater FES CAPEZ Owner
Qualifications Qualifications
BSME/BSEE or related field. 2-5 years' experience in manufacturing engineering. Must possess strong mechanical aptitude, ability to use basic measuring tools, and hands-on capabilities to work on projects without supervision. Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written. Working knowledge of 5S, lean manufacturing, TPM, cell concept, value stream mapping or similar experience, capability preferred. Working knowledge of Microsoft Office and Lotus Notes preferred. CAD knowledge with fixtures design experience, AutoCAD/Mechanical Desktop or Inventor preferred. Knowledge of PLC's, automation, or robotics is a plus.
