As a Senior Product Design Engineer on our Sensor Products team, you will lead the mechanical and electromechanical design of next-generation sensor solutions from concept architecture through high-volume production. This is a hands-on technical leadership role for an experienced engineer who is energized by solving complex design challenges, mentoring others, and shaping the future of our sensor portfolio. You'll be a trusted technical voice at the table with electrical, test, reliability, manufacturing, operations, and supplier partners and your decisions will directly influence product roadmap, manufacturability, and long-term reliability.

Our Team

Join a growing, entrepreneurial Sensor Products engineering team developing innovative sensing solutions for high-growth applications. As a Senior Design Engineer, you'll lead key design efforts, solve complex technical challenges, and help bring new products from concept to production. Our culture is built on principles over rules. In practice: You own design decisions end-to-end, no design-by-committee. You have budget authority for supplier tooling and prototype builds without layers of approval. When you identify a design risk, you drive the solution; leadership's job is to unblock, not second-guess. You'll influence our product roadmap through technical voice, not politics. In return, we expect ownership: design quality, manufacturing readiness, and long-term reliability are your reputation.

What You Will Do

  • Lead the mechanical/electromechanical design of complex sensor sub-systems and assemblies from concept through high-volume production release
  • Architect design solutions across multiple product families and set CAD modeling, GD&T, and documentation standards for the team
  • Mentor mid-level and junior design engineers and lead design reviews, DFMEAs, and technical problem-solving sessions
  • Drive design trade-off studies, material selection, and tolerance stack-up analysis on the most complex programs
  • Apply and champion DFM, DFA, DFR, and DFT (DFx) principles across the team
  • Plan and execute comprehensive validation strategies (DVP&R), including structural, thermal, and failure analyses
  • Collaborate with supplier and manufacturing partner for complex tooling, processes, and design-for-manufacturing challenges
  • Support engineering builds (EV, DV, PV) and drive production ramp readiness
  • Represent design engineering in customer technical reviews and influence product roadmap through DFx, cost, and reliability strategy
  • Identify design risks early and drive data-driven corrective actions
  • Clearly communicate design intent, technical risks, and program status to cross-functional teams and leadership

Who You Are (Basic Qualifications)

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Product Design Engineering, or related field
  • 7+ years of product design or mechanical engineering experience with electromechanical assemblies
  • Direct sensor product design experience (current, position, accelerometer, pressure, or similar)
  • Proven track record of releasing products into high-volume manufacturing
  • Expert-level proficiency in CAD tools (NX, Creo, SolidWorks, or equivalent)
  • Advanced GD&T and tolerance stack-up expertise
  • Hands-on experience with prototyping, debugging, and production support
  • Experience leading DFMEAs and design reviews

What Will Put You Ahead

  • 10 -12+ years of product design experience in sensors or electromechanical assemblies
  • Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field
  • Prior technical lead or formal mentorship experience
  • Experience in automotive or industrial sensor environments with knowledge of ASIL, EMC/EMI, IATF 16949
  • Familiarity with sensor physics (magnetic, acceleration, pressure) and signal processing or calibration concepts
  • Experience designing components for high-voltage / high-current applications
  • Deep supplier management or manufacturing floor leadership experience
  • Experience with structural and thermal FEA tools (Ansys, Abaqus, or equivalent)

What You Bring to the Team

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving mindset with the judgment to navigate ambiguity
  • Excellent written and verbal communication across disciplines and levels
  • Ownership mentality, you treat the product like it's yours
  • Collaborative, hands-on, and detail-oriented
  • A genuine interest in mentoring and lifting the technical capability of those around you
