The Center for Comparative Medicine at the University of Virginia (UVA) seeks qualified applicants for the position of Clinical Veterinarian. The mission of theCenter for Comparative Medicineis to support biomedical research and teaching that utilizes laboratory animals. The Center does this in a manner which promotes the policies set by the Institutional Care and Use Committee (IACUC) whose charge is to oversee compliance by personnel at the University of Virginia with federal regulations and guidelines. This position is a part-time benefited role at 32 hours/week. This is a 2 year term restricted position, renewable dependent on funding and performance. The successful candidate will be expected to provide oversight of the clinical veterinary care program for research animals at the University. The successful incumbent will:

Compensation: $120,000 annually (for 32 hour/week). Relocation reimbursement up to $16,000 will be provided. This is an exempt-level, benefited position. Learn more about UVA benefits. This position is located on the main grounds of the University of Virginia, but can include semiannual trips to the Anheuser Busch Coastal Research Center in Oyster, VA, The Virginia State Arboretum in Front Royal, VA and/or Mountain Lake Biological Station in Blacksburg, VA. Background checks, pre-employment health screenings, and drug screenings will be conducted on all new hires prior to employment. Physical Demands: The candidate must be able to lift 30lbs, stand at and walk between facilities for up to six hours per day, and wear appropriate personal protective equipment to work in environments that may contain hazards which include: animal allergens, biohazards (ABSL2-3), hot machinery, radioisotopes, and chemical hazards.
