Role: Referral Network Engineer - This is a remote opportunity

This is a senior operational engineering role below the Senior Network Engineer. Candidates must be able to own day-to-day sustainment and complex troubleshooting without needing constant senior oversight.

The Referral Network Engineer supports DHA LAN/WAN capability through troubleshooting and problem resolution in production. This role provides daily operational and sustainment support for DHA LAN/WLAN/WAN networks, plans/installs/supports hardware and software upgrades, implements enterprise changes under approved LAN/WLAN/WAN standards, uses SolarWinds/ARMIS/Ansible for network and routing issues, supports network security barrier systems, and uses diagnostics to isolate latency, bottleneck, media, and protocol issues.

Must-have Requirements:
  • DoD 8570.01 / 8570.01-M compliance at IAM Level II or equivalent.
  • Security+ and CCNA or equivalent network architecture certification. Equivalent examples can include vendor-aligned certifications such as Brocade BCNE, but CCNA/Security+ is preferred.
  • Bachelor's degree in a technical discipline such as computer science plus five years of related experience; or certified technical/vocational school plus eight years of related experience.
  • Understanding and proficiency in TCP/IP, HTTP, HTTPS, SNMP, DNS, DHCP, RSTP, VRRP, BIND, EIGRP, BGP, OSPF, 802.1d, 802.1q, 802.1w, 802.3, 802.11, 802.3u, 802.3z, Ethernet, Fast Ethernet, Gigabit Ethernet, and other DoD/DHA communications media.
  • Experience with OTDR, cable testers, network sniffers, and EIA/TIA cable standards.
  • Experience in routed, switched, and shared LAN environments using Microsoft OS, Windows Active Directory, UNIX, OpenVMS, routers, switches, terminal servers, local WAN, and long-haul WAN connectivity.
  • Expertise in Windows networks, Cisco Systems, and Orion SolarWinds.
  • Ability to establish/configure network firewalls, VPN devices, and IDSs.
  • ADP sensitivity determination required.
