Posting Summary
Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey is seeking a Benefits Functional Specialist for the Benefits department within University Human Resources.

This role supports data validation, cleanup, and system updates related to the organization's HCM Cloud conversion. In addition, this role will provide operational support for employee general enrollment activities. This includes ensuring employees are enrolled in mandatory pension plans within state required timeframes, as well as processing time sensitive voluntary savings enrollments, loans, and withdrawals.
Among the key duties of the position are the following:

  • Processes and certifies enrollment applications for mandatory pension and voluntary savings plans.
  • Reviews eligibility guidelines and coverage provisions established by the New Jersey Division of Pensions and Benefits (NJDPB).
  • Assists employees with the completion of required forms and verifies the eligibility and accuracy of submitted documentation.
  • Enters pension enrollment data into EPIC, the official system of record for the New Jersey Division of Pensions and Benefits (NJDPB).
  • Calculates and processes retroactive contributions and refunds in the university payroll system, including performing manual calculations as needed.
  • Participates in audits and related activities for all pension and savings plan enrollments in both PeopleSoft and Oracle HCM Cloud.
  • Performs end-to-end data validation and comparisons between two HCM databases.
  • Ensures data alignment and makes updates as needed.
  • Reviews discrepancies based on established business rules and takes corrective action as necessary.
  • Reports findings with clear descriptions of error messages and required updates.
  • Takes corrective enrollment and adjustment actions as needed.

Salary Details $50,435

Qualifications






Minimum Education and Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in a related field from an accredited college or university and/or an equivalent combination of education and experience in benefits enrollments or related area.
Certifications/Licenses
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Knowledge of Benefits enrollment and related processes, policies, and practices.
  • Ability to accurately prepare detailed, technical, and confidential benefits and payroll deduction transactions.
  • Ability to make accurate arithmetic calculations.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
  • Ability to understand HR terminology/concepts, policies, and procedures.
  • Excellent oral, written and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Ability to handle and maintain confidential information.
  • Must possess a positive, team-oriented approach to service delivery.
  • Ability to meet deadlines in a fast-paced, high-volume environment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in the administration of the Alternate Benefit Plan and the Public Employees' Retirement System under the New Jersey Division of Pensions and Benefits.
  • Knowledge of case management and tracking software, specifically, Service Now.
