Job Title: Ground Service Equipment (GSE) Mechanic

Reports To: Maintenance Manager

FLSA Status: Non-Exempt

Department: Facility Maintenance

Location: Ardmore, Oklahoma



POSITION SUMMARY

The Ground Service Equipment (GSE) Mechanic performs scheduled and unscheduled maintenance on ground service equipment used to support aircraft maintenance and flying operations. This position inspects, tests, operates, services, maintains, repairs, and replaces components on GSE equipment to ensure serviceability and safe operation. The role diagnoses mechanical and electronic malfunctions using technical publications, test equipment, and visual and auditory inspection methods and supports equipment readiness, storage, and deployment.

Qualifications

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES



  • Service equipment with fuel, oil, coolant, water, hydraulic fluid, and air.
  • Operate, clean, inspect, and service GSE towing vehicles and related support equipment.
  • Maintain vehicle forms and spare parts inventory records.
  • Provide dispatch support for GSE, including positioning equipment to support aircraft maintenance and flying operations.
  • Count, sort, and verify incoming parts, supplies, and equipment against purchase orders and invoices.
  • Diagnose malfunctions, troubleshoot, and repair GSE equipment and inspect completed maintenance actions for serviceability.
  • Prepare GSE for storage and mobility deployment.
  • Use automated maintenance systems to monitor maintenance trends, analyze equipment requirements, maintain records, and document maintenance actions.
  • Analyze and repair GSE using conventional and digital multimeters, voltmeters, ohmmeters, frequency counters, oscilloscopes, circuit card testers, transistor testers, and hand tools.
  • Maintain external fuel and grounding systems and store, handle, use, and dispose of hazardous materials and waste in accordance with environmental standards.
  • Store GSE parts, supplies, and equipment in assigned locations according to identifying information and support HazMat storage and monitoring requirements.
  • Plan and organize GSE maintenance activities, establish production controls and standards, determine resource requirements, and define equipment serviceability criteria when needed.
  • Conduct GSE training for assigned facility personnel.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.


QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE



  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Two (2) years of aircraft ground service equipment experience within the last five (5) years preferred.


COMMUNICATION SKILLS

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, and governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals and respond effectively to questions from managers, clients, customers, and the general public.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.

REASONING AND PROBLEM-SOLVING SKILLS

Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

COMPUTER SKILLS

Proficiency with Microsoft Office, internet software, email, and Management Information System for Aviation (MISA) software.

OTHER QUALIFICATIONS



  • Current driver's license required.
  • Ability to safely handle, store, use, and dispose of hazardous materials in accordance with applicable standards.
