Job Summary

This position will be responsible for providing management and oversight, including on-site support, for their assigned supply base. The Supplier Quality Engineer is responsible for identifying and mitigating supplier risks, ensuring on time and accurate submission of Supplier Deliverable Documentation Requirements, analyze defects, and conduct root cause analysis as applicable to eliminate defects and improve product quality, cost and schedule.

Essential Functions

  • Focuses on planning, organizing, and reporting on supplier provided raw materials, designed/manufactured goods, and packaging materials to ensure they meet or exceed requirements.
  • Verifies and validates that suppliers have received and understand engineering, manufacturing, and quality requirements.
  • Monitors & audits quality control activities and systems at supplier and subcontractor facilities.
  • Ensures programs are in place to improve supplier performance and productivity.
  • Reviews and analyzes corrective action reports to reduce/eliminate defects.
  • May perform root cause investigations into quality issues.


Additional Responsibilities

  • Onsite supplier visits: Drive deployment of quality requirements, initiatives, and training to supply base.
  • Develop/prepare Supplier documentation: Lead corrective action teams to determine root cause and corrective actions for nonconformances identified on assigned supply base.


Required Qualifications

  • Required education and experience: Associate's Degree and 2-4 years' experience OR Equivalent Combination of Relevant Education &/or Experience
  • Critical professional related technical skills; computer skills: Proficient in Microsoft Office (Power BI, Excel, Word, PowerPoint)


Preferred Qualifications

  • Preferred education and experience: Bachelor's Degree in general Engineering or specialized Engineering
  • ISO9001:2015 Lead auditor or AS9100D Lead Auditor
  • Six Sigma Green Belt, Strong Mechanical Background, Ability to read and interpret technical engineering drawings.
  • Knowledge, skills & abilities: Issue Resolution. KPI Management. Performance Analysis. Quality Audit. Quality Control/Testing. Quality Improvement. Quality Inspection. Supplier Management. Vendor Relationships. Service Level Agreements (SLA). Supplier Evaluation. Regulatory Compliance. ISO9001.
  • Relevant Supplier Quality Engineering experience within Manufacturing, Military, Aerospace/Aviation, Automotive industry.


Physical Requirements

  • Must be able to remain in a stationary position at a desk and/or computer for extended periods of time
  • Requires regular movement throughout GD-OTS facilities
  • Work primarily in a climate-controlled environment with minimal safety/health hazard potential.


Travel Requirements

25-50% travel likely.
