About the Position

Does the idea of making a difference in underserved communities appeal to you? Do you thrive in a customer-facing position? The Event Coordinator's primary mission is to increase adoptions and strengthen community engagement by planning, organizing, and executing off-site adoption events and shelter special events.

The role also supports community wellness by coordinating licensing events as well as free spay/neuter and vaccine clinics, identifying ideal locations, and tracking outcomes to measure program effectiveness. In addition to leading these efforts, the Event Coordinator manages all event logistics: site selection, setup, volunteer coordination, and post-event evaluations, ensuring each event runs smoothly and successfully connects pets with loving homes. This position is fully on-site and customer-facing, requiring the employee to be present in the office or the community during all working hours

Please note that this position will require the ability to drive large vehicles measuring up to (29' and 31').

We Require

  • Four years of experience planning and coordinating community events and/or outreach campaigns to raise awareness of specific programs

  • High school diploma or GED

  • Postsecondary education may substitute for two years of the required experience on a year-for-year basis

We Also Value

  • Experience working in a veterinary clinic and a humane society

  • Experience driving large vehicles (29' and 31')

  • Bilingual in Spanish and English

Job Contributions

  • Manages the full offsite event schedule, coordinates all logistics and activities for off-site adoption events, and conducts program-associated adoption events

  • Selects appropriate animals for program-associated events based on temperament and health and takes responsibility for their health and welfare at the event, including humane animal handling and sanitation

  • Plans, coordinates, and conducts in-shelter events that promote pet adoptions, foster recruitment, volunteer engagement, and community participation

  • Maintains accurate record entry, including data entry and statistical reporting, as well as managing the associated programs and database

  • Coordinates with community partners to plan, organize, and host community outreach events, including vaccination clinics, spay/neuter clinics, educational events, and other public engagement activities

  • Generates positive relations with the general public, volunteers, and team members while promoting MCACC programs, policies, mission, and vision; Proactively addresses customer needs and ensures a high quality of customer care is provided

  • Develops, writes, and summarizesreports to track program success formanagement at regularly scheduled intervals

  • Develops program materials for data collection andinformationdistribution in the community

  • Maintains program inventory includingcollars, leashes, vaccines, microchips, chip scanner, treats, flea and tick medicine, etc.

Working Conditions

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk on all types of surfaces, sometimes slippery and/or uneven and rough. You must be able to lift and carry up to 50lb and perform duties that require lifting, bending, and stooping. Environmental factors can be indoors or outdoors, working in the extreme heat of the Arizona summers

  • Candidates must be flexible and able to work all shifts, including starting as early as 5 amand finishing as late as 9 pm, working weekends and holidays. Employees can beassignedto any shift, with any combination of days off, determined by the Department's needs

  • Candidates must be able to work independently at events

  • Frequently handles and will be exposed to dogs and cats with unknown temperament or behavior

  • Ability to obtain a valid Arizona driver's license with the ability to drive a 29' and 31' vehicle upon hire
