As the largest and oldest department within the UC San Diego School of Medicine, the Department of Medicine employs nearly 500 faculty members and 1,000 academic appointees, residents, fellow, postdocs, and staff, in pursuit of its academic, clinical, and research missions. Under the direction of the attending Physician, in collaboration with Nursing Leadership, incumbent provides direct care to cardiac patients. Serves as liaison between patients and physicians, responsible for providing routine care and management of patients with acute and chronic complaints with physician and other team members. Responsible for providing excellent patient care, offering high level of compassion and comfort discussing pain and symptom management to develop patient's plan care. Will work in collaboration with the physician, and is directly accountable for making clinical judgments using independent and interdependent decision-making skills. Primary focus is on the provision of direct and indirect patient care in managing the health care needs of the identified patient population. Position requires special knowledge, skills, and abilities in the field of cardiology, specifically, advanced heart failure, interventional cardiology and electrophysiology. Evaluates and manages patient population, with appropriate referral and collaboration with Attending Physician(s). Participates in care coordination, patient tracking and monitoring, and documentation. Working with Attending Physician(s). The Nurse Practitioner will assess and provide nursing actions as appropriate for patient care populations based on competence, professional expertise, and knowledge. The nurse is expected to practice consistent with ANA Standards of Practice and Professional Performance. Independent judgment is expected to be exercised within the context of interdisciplinary and multidisciplinary approaches to patient care. Under general supervision, incumbents perform operational level duties as described in the Series Concept. The major emphasis at this level is ongoing direct patient care delivery. Assignments at this level primarily encompass management of patients who present chronic and/or episodic health problems. Assignments at this level may include responsibility for occasional community teaching programs, participation in program planning and development of patient education information. Job standards are to be performed at the PRACTITIONER level. While not required, a cover letter is highly recommended when applying to this position.
Pay Transparency Act Annual Full Pay Range: $176,624 - $247,157 (will be prorated if the appointment percentage is less than 100%) Hourly Equivalent: $84.59 - $118.37 Factors in determining the appropriate compensation for a role include experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. The Hiring Pay Scale referenced in the job posting is the budgeted salary or hourly range that the University reasonably expects to pay for this position. The Annual Full Pay Range may be broader than what the University anticipates to pay for this position, based on internal equity, budget, and collective bargaining agreements (when applicable). | |
