$2,000 Sign-On Bonus for Full-Time Certified Teachers!

Join our team and receive a $2,000 sign-on bonus, paid in the following installments:



  • $500 after your first full pay period
  • $750 six months after your hire date
  • $750 three months after your second bonus payment

As a Classroom Teacher, you will play a vital role in supporting children's growth and development through purposeful learning experiences and meaningful relationships. You will lead by example, creating a classroom environment that promotes curiosity, confidence, and a lifelong love of learning while modeling the YMCA's core values of Caring, Honesty, Respect, and Responsibility.


What You'll Do
Create a Positive Learning Environment

  • Provide quality care and supervision for children throughout the day
  • Maintain a safe, healthy, and developmentally appropriate classroom environment
  • Ensure classrooms, materials, and equipment are clean, organized, and well-maintained
  • Support children's emotional, social, cognitive, and physical development


Plan and Implement Curriculum

  • Develop and implement engaging, age-appropriate lesson plans and activities
  • Create learning experiences that encourage exploration, creativity, and growth
  • Foster an inclusive classroom that celebrates diverse abilities, backgrounds, and learning styles
  • Observe and assess children's progress and adapt activities to meet individual needs


Build Strong Relationships

  • Establish positive and professional relationships with children, families, and colleagues
  • Communicate regularly with parents and caregivers regarding their child's development and daily experiences
  • Collaborate with fellow teachers and program leadership to support positive outcomes for children and families
  • Help families feel connected to the YMCA community


Lead by Example

  • Model high-quality teaching practices and effective classroom management techniques
  • Participate in staff meetings, professional development, family events, and program activities
  • Support a collaborative and positive team culture


Ensure Safety and Compliance

  • Follow YMCA policies and state licensing regulations
  • Respond appropriately to incidents, injuries, and emergencies
  • Maintain required documentation and reporting related to attendance, incidents, and child safety

  • Experience working with young children in a classroom, childcare, or educational setting
  • Knowledge of child development and developmentally appropriate practices

Qualifications

  • Must be at least 18 years of age
  • High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent required
  • Must meet all qualifications established by the Massachusetts Department of Early Education and Care (EEC) or the New Hampshire Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS)
  • Demonstrated knowledge of child growth and development, with the ability to apply developmentally appropriate practices when working with children.


  • $2,000 sign-on bonus, paid out as follows:


  • $500 after your first full pay period
  • $750 six months after your hire date
  • $750 three months after your second bonus payment


Requirements

  • Must complete the Massachusetts Department of Early Education and Care or New Hampshire Department of Health and Human Services fingerprinting requirements before the first day of employment
  • Must complete all required training, certifications, and program orientation in accordance with EEC or NH DHHS regulations and YMCA of the North Shore requirements
  • Must maintain current Infant/Child CPR and First Aid certifications


Work Environment & Physical Demands

  • Must be able to lift and carry up to 40 pounds
  • Must be able to lift, bend, twist, reach, and move throughout the day as needed to perform job responsibilities
  • Requires frequent transitions between standing, sitting, and working on the floor with children
  • Requires working outdoors during all seasons and weather conditions throughout the school year
  • Must be able to respond quickly and appropriately to the unpredictable actions and needs of children
  • Must be able to actively supervise children and participate in classroom and outdoor activities throughout the day
