PURPOSE AND SCOPE

This position is responsible for receiving, organizing, and storing production parts/components in the warehouse. This position also oversees the supply of the materials to the production floor and manages the cycle count program to ensure component inventory accuracy. Incumbent carries out responsibilities in the office and on the shop floor.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.

  • Oversees the processing of all inventory transactions.
  • Maintains required supply of parts to support shop floor through the efforts of warehouse personnel.
  • This position works closely with Buyer/Planners to establish and maintain set inventory levels. Incumbent evaluates inventory levels and notifies Purchasing when reorders are necessary. Maintains records, replenishes stock, and plans for future requirements.
  • Manages master scheduling, shipping scheduling, and build scheduling.
  • Communicates customer order status.
  • Manages clear to build process to ensure materials availability line side.
  • Manages cycle counting program to ensure component inventory accuracy. This includes generating cycle count reports, distributing them to production measuring these reports and providing feedback.
  • Investigates and resolves errors and/or discrepancies with inventory and production structures (BOMs). Incumbent must distinguish between production support errors and discrepancies in production structures and must communicate with appropriate functional areas.
  • Maintains records of status and location of materials received. Allocates materials to specific projects and documents the distribution of materials and/or parts.
  • Provides daily work direction to warehouse and shipping personnel and ensures proper training in stock handling and record keeping methods.
  • Prepares special reports and reviews warehouse operations for compliance with established procedures. Works under minimal supervision with considerable latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment.
  • Monitors inventory levels of component parts using visual management systems.
  • Maintain monthly reports verifying stock status, inventory transfers and accounting using information from JDE.
  • This position is expected to know and utilize warehouse methods and procedures; inventory stock control record keeping procedures; reporting procedures; and purchasing and requisitioning procedures.
  • Ensure that all shipments, receivers, stock moves and documents are posted on a daily basis.
  • Accountable that all ships verified ready for distribution are shipped the week or date assigned. Will ensure that truck carriers are called in for pick up as scheduled.
  • Will work with shipping personnel to ensure the accurate picking of finished goods for all orders. This includes that orders ship complete per the packing slip or order information. All deviations will be reported to the planning department at weekly shipping meetings.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor's degree from four-year college or university; or 3-5 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Ability to work any and all areas at subordinate level.
  • Lean Manufacturing experience desired, especially related to logistics/replenishment/PFEP/kanban/pull systems.

KNOWLEDGE / SKILL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Facilitates employee training and development.
  • Facilitates lean manufacturing updates of materials practices with proper management personnel.
  • Coordinate materials and resources to ensure production operations have materials as needed.
  • Evaluates individual performance and makes appropriate recommendations.
  • Understands and supports safe factory practices and good housekeeping.
  • Lead receiving dock operations and documentation processing.
  • Lead shipping dock operations and documentation processing.
  • Lead internal material movement operations to include a "clear to build" process.
  • Drive 5S processes in dock, warehouse, and staging areas.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS
The employee is required to spend most of this time on the production floor. Frequently walking, standing, reaching, pulling, stooping, climbing, crouching, or crawling. Visual ability includes close vision; color vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus. Noise level ranges from moderate to loud.

WORK ENVIRONMENT
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to outside weather conditions. The employee is also exposed to fumes and/or airborne particles. The noise level ranges from quiet to loud.
