Take Charge of Your Career at Interstates

At Interstates, we don't just show up to work, we show up for each other. From our headquarters in Iowa to job sites across the country, we're doing award-winning electrical, controls, automation, and OT work that powers industrial facilities for clients here in the U.S. and around the world. Whether you're bending conduit, wiring panels, writing code, supporting projects, or helping things run behind the scenes, you'll be part of a crew that works hard, shares laughs, and takes pride in doing quality work. We believe in building strong teams, doing the right thing, and making a difference in the communities where we live. If you want to grow and do meaningful work, you'll feel at home here.

Are you passionate about creating safer workplaces and empowering others to do the same? At Interstates, we're looking for a Safety Technician III who is ready to take safety leadership to the next level. In this role, you'll help drive a strong safety culture on large-scale construction projects by identifying hazards, coaching teams, and partnering with site leadership to support compliance and continuous improvement.

This is a great fit for an experienced safety professional who thrives in dynamic environments, works well independently, and knows how to influence others without direct authority. If you bring deep knowledge of OSHA and NFPA standards and want to make a meaningful impact on people and projects, we'd like to connect.

  • Safety Technicians I and II are supported and developed effectively when applicable.

Responsibilities

  • Lead day-to-day safety operations on large projects, typically over 75 manpower and/or multiple safety technicians on one project.
  • Instruct site management to identify and immediately correct unsafe working conditions or equipment.

  • Conduct and monitor site safety audits and ensure timely follow-up on findings.
  • Lead investigations of unsafe acts and accidents to identify root causes and corrective actions.
  • Prepare for and participate in Root Cause Analysis meetings.
  • Monitor site-specific injuries and accidents and help manage all injuries and illnesses.
  • Work with Site Management and Area Managers to ensure safety equipment and supplies are available on site.
  • Communicate Interstates safety standards to other contractors and clients and represent Interstates in client meetings.
  • Train and mentor Safety Technicians I and II as needed.
  • Operate independently with minimal direction from safety management.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong ability to track information, conduct audits, and write reports and procedures.
  • Ability to present information clearly to managers, clients, customers, and other groups.

  • Strong judgment, prioritization, and stress management skills.

Qualifications

  • Successful completion of OSHA Authorized Instructor Course #500 and #510 for Construction.
  • NFPA 70E training required.
