What we are looking for

The Environmental Technician assists project managers in various project types, including solid waste, electric utility, and environmental management. This individual should follow regulatory requirements, standard operating procedures, and SCS protocols, exercise independent judgement and be able to complete tasks and projects with direction from management and provided training. Conduct assignments in an office setting, including both our Menomonee Falls and Muskego, Wisconsin locations, and perform field work. This individual will be in the field at least 80% of the time with local or overnight travel.

Organizational Relationships

    Receives work assignments from Project Managers or their designees.
  • Administratively reports to assigned supervisor.
  • May work independently or in conjunction with other staff to complete assigned tasks.


How you can make an impact

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Contribute to our projects by assisting SCS project teams with the following tasks:

  • Perform sampling and/or monitoring, which can include the following: soil, soil vapor, groundwater, surface water, air, geosynthetics, landfill gas and leachate
  • Prepare and submit daily field logs reporting data collected, field observations, actions taken, and recommended actions to be taken
  • Report field conditions and test results to supervisor and sometimes directly to the client
  • Coordinate work with contractors, subcontractors, and laboratories
  • Maintain (regular maintenance, inventory, troubleshooting, and/or repair) sampling and monitoring equipment
  • Prepare monitoring reports, health & safety plans, and other work documents
  • Research technical data and regulations
  • Pursue technical improvement for self and company
  • Participate in health and safety training


Qualifications

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Basic computer skills including Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Ability to utilize phone/tablet applications to record data
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Basic health and safety knowledge
  • Completion of (or willingness to complete) a 40-hour Hazardous Waste Operations and Emergency Response (HAZWOPER) training required
  • High attention to detail and solid judgment
  • Ability to work independently and problem-solve
  • Ability to read and understand maps and engineering drawings
  • Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions
  • Mechanical aptitude to troubleshoot and repair field equipment

Qualifications

  • Associates Degree, preferred
  • 0 to 5 years of related work experience
  • Experience with mechanical systems and/or construction preferred
  • Ability to use basic hand tools and lift/carry up to 50 pounds required
  • Must be able to travel overnight and work weekends, if necessary
  • Valid driver's license with a driving record in good standing required


Pay Range

USD $25.00 - USD $27.00 /Hr.
