The Opportunity

Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University (ERAU) seeks a dynamic, student-centered, and forward-thinking Mental Health Counselor to provide visionary leadership

The Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC), in alignment with the mission, vision, and strategic priorities of Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University and the Division of Student Affairs, provides high-quality, student-centered mental health services that support student well-being and success.

Reporting to the Director of Counseling Services, the LMHC delivers a full range of clinical and outreach services, including individual and group counseling, crisis intervention, prevention, and psychoeducational programming. The counselor plays a critical role in fostering emotional resilience and promoting a culture of care across campus.

This position contributes directly to student success and retention by addressing the mental health needs of a diverse student body, including those pursuing academically rigorous and high-performance programs in aviation, aerospace, and STEM disciplines.

Counseling Services embraces a holistic philosophy that integrates prevention, education, and clinical intervention. The team is committed to building a healthy, inclusive, and thriving campus community through evidence-based treatment, proactive outreach, and innovative wellness initiatives that empower students to reach their full potential.

This position is a full-time role.

  • Generous Time Off: Enjoy up to 18 days of paid leave in your first year, including 3 days granted upon hire and 15 days accrued throughout the year. You'll also receive 9+ paid holidays, including the day after Thanksgiving and the week between Christmas Eve and New Year's Day.

  • Tuition Coverage: Get 100% tuition coverage for yourself for one undergraduate and one graduate degree, and discounted rates for your spouse and dependent children up to age 26.

  • Retirement Contributions: ERAU contributes 6% of your base salary to your retirement plan and offers a 4% matching contribution - with no vesting period.

  • Personal Leave: Relax with 15 days of personal leave for non-exempt employees or 18 days for exempt full-time employees in your first year.

The annual salary range for this role is$60,000-70,000. The final offer will be based on the candidate's skills, qualifications, and experience, as well as applicable state regulations, internal equity, and business needs, and may fall outside of the stated range.

Qualifications

Required Education and Qualifications:

  • Master's degree in Mental Health related field

Required licenses, certificates, and/or security clearances:

  • Florida State License required, i.e. LMHC, LCSW, LMFT

Required skills, knowledge, abilities:

  • Florida licensed mental health clinician, professional experience working with diverse populations.
  • Experience in facilitating and coordinating psych-educational workshops, training, and presentations.
  • Experience in a university counseling center with a broad-based comprehensive student development perspective.
