Job Description

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Assist the Supervisor in coordinating the daily operations, workflow, and productivity of the Special Billing Team and Joint Corrections Team to ensure departmental goals and service standards are achieved.
  • Provide day-to-day leadership, guidance, and technical support to team members.
  • Conduct reimbursement analysis and prepare reports for leadership, presenting findings and recommendations during regular departmental meetings.
  • Monitor work queues, prioritize assignments, and assist the Supervisor in balancing workloads to maintain timely processing of billing corrections, denials, and reimbursement activities.
  • Act as liaison between third-party payers and internal departments to investigate and resolve audit discrepancies, reimbursement issues, and complex billing concerns.
  • Perform root cause analysis of billing edits, denials, and reimbursement trends, partnering with leadership and operational departments to implement sustainable process improvements.
  • Design, develop, implement, and maintain NAVEX policies, procedures, and workflow documentation to support standardized operations within the Special Billing and Joint Corrections teams.
  • Train, mentor, and onboard new and existing staff, providing ongoing education regarding reimbursement requirements, billing processes, compliance standards, and departmental procedures.
  • Assist the Supervisor with monitoring quality metrics, identifying training opportunities, providing coaching, and supporting employee development initiatives.
  • Collaborate with leadership to implement new processes, operational improvements, and departmental initiatives that enhance efficiency and reimbursement performance.
  • Serve as the Supervisor's designee in coordinating daily operations and addressing escalated reimbursement or billing issues in the Supervisor's absence.
  • Participate in special projects and perform other duties as assigned.

Candidate should have:

  • Advanced knowledge of hospital and professional medical billing and revenue cycle operations.
  • Comprehensive understanding of patient accounting, collections, denial management, and registration processes.
  • Demonstrated ability to interpret reimbursement data, identify trends, and implement process improvements.
  • Experience developing policies, procedures, and training materials, including NAVEX documentation.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Proven ability to train, mentor, and provide technical leadership to staff while fostering collaboration and accountability.
  • Proficiency with electronic billing systems, Microsoft Office applications, and reporting tools.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in related/relevant area or an equivalent combination of education and experience and at least 2 years of experience from which comparable knowledge and skills can be acquired is necessary

Preferred Qualifications

Education: A Bachelor's Degree in health or business related area or the equivalent combination of education and experience from which comparable and abilities can be acquired.

Credentials: Certified Procedural Coder.Three to four years of supervisory experience and directly related experience involving physician billing procedures

Niche Professional Interests: Be proficient in Microsoft office and preferred experience with Experian Contract Management.

Anticipated Hiring Range

Salary Range: $53,976 - $85,176 annually
Grade: GGS 9E
