The Teaching Track faculty position combines educational administrative leadership with teaching and mentoring responsibilities, which together comprise at least 80% of the faculty member's assigned effort. Teaching responsibilities include coordination of Advanced Pharmacy Practice Experiences (APPEs), and provision of didactic instruction in experiential related topics and courses. The remaining 20% will be dedicated to service and scholarly activities. Department, school, university, and professional service are expected. Scholarly activities are encouraged and are an important component of a well-rounded faculty candidate's recruitment and success, and collaboration opportunities with other educational scholars are available. As a faculty member, service to the school through active participation is expected. Routine faculty administration and participation duties, such as attendance at departmental and full faculty meetings and committee service, as well as annual peer review submissions and peer-to-peer teaching evaluations are expected. The faculty member should also contribute to the growth of the profession through service on a national level. Inclusive teaching methods and expert use of pedagogical techniques and technologies are expected.

The Director of Professional Experience Programs provides strategic leadership for the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of the Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) experiential curriculum. The successful candidate will lead the experiential education team, including the Director of Experiential Assessment, the Director of Introductory Pharmacy Practice Experience (IPPE) Programs, and the professional staff, while fostering a collaborative and high-performing work environment. The Director will work closely with USC Mann students, faculty, staff, preceptors, external partners, and affiliated organizations to ensure experiential programs meet accreditation standards, supports student success, and advances the school's mission.

The position is primarily based on the USC Health Sciences Campus, with occasional travel required for site visits, conferences, and domestic or international experiential programs.

Specific responsibilities include:

  • Recruit new experiential practice sites and preceptors.
  • Provide input on hiring for experiential faculty and staff positions, as needed.
  • Provide collaborative oversight for appointing qualified adjunct faculty preceptors.
  • Collaborate with the Chief International Officer to support and expand international experiential education opportunities.

Candidates who have completed a pharmacy residency and/or fellowship are preferred. Candidates must have prior experience in academia, including demonstrated experiential education programming leadership, assessment, teaching, precepting, and scholarship, along with proven excellence, leadership, knowledge, and skills to collaborate with partners and represent USC Mann externally.
