Your Role

Gensler Los Angeles is currently seeking an experienced Technical Designer (Job Captain) with a successful track record and architectural background with commercial - workplace project experience. In this position, you will collaborate with a team of designers and architects to produce technical documentation and communicate project progress to team members, ensuring our projects exceed client expectations.

What You Will Do

  • Produce accurate technical and contract documentation for construction of projects

  • Provide project team coordination for incorporating design intent into construction documentation, assign tasks, and lead technical drawings

  • Participate in construction administration, evaluate bids, conduct site visits, address technical issues and maintain quality control during construction

  • Coordinate and Direct consultants, specification writers to meet overall project objectives

  • Collaborate with Contractors, Fabricators and Regulatory Agencies /3rd party teams

  • Utilize hand sketches and 3D software, and Revit to communicate design concepts

Your Qualifications

  • 5+ years of related professional experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Architecture or related field

  • Experience in leading commercial projects preferred, and experience with science, technology, and/or manufacturing facilities a plus, but not required

  • Experience with core & shell and/or interiors experience

  • Knowledge of building codes, zoning, jurisdictional processes, building materials, specifications and construction techniques

  • Knowledge of sustainable design strategies and experience on net zero projects is a plus

  • Experience in construction document preparation and field observation

  • Strong leadership, organizational, verbal and written communication, and relationship management skills

  • Strong Revit skills (Level 4 or 5) required; and experience in AutoCad, Adobe CS, SketchUp, and other 3D modeling software a plus

  • On the path to licensure preferred
