As a Security Officer Access Management in Norfolk, VA, you will serve and safeguard clients in a range of industries. Join Allied Universal at a dynamic higher education location, where you will manage access points, verify credentials, monitor activity, and support a welcoming environment for students, staff, and visitors. In this access control role, you will provide strong customer service, clear communication, and a visible security-related presence while working with a team that values agility, reliability, innovation, care, and integrity.

Pay Rate: $16.50 / Hour

Job Schedule:

What You'll Do:

Provide customer service to students, staff, visitors, and/or vendors by following site-specific access control procedures and supporting security-related protocols at designated entry points.
• Monitor entrances, verify identification and/or credentials, manage visitor check-in procedures, and help to deter unauthorized access to the location.
• Respond to incidents, policy concerns, and/or critical situations in a calm, problem-solving manner, and communicate relevant details to supervisors and/or local contacts as needed.
• Conduct regular and random patrols around assigned buildings, common areas, and perimeter locations, noting unusual activity and reporting security-related concerns according to site procedures.

Minimum Requirements:

• Be at least 18 years of age for unarmed roles; 21+ years of age for armed roles.
• Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
• As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a background investigation in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws.
• Allied Universal will consider qualified applications with criminal histories in a manner consistent with applicable laws.
• As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law.
• Licensing requirements are subject to state and/or local laws and regulations and may be required prior to employment.
• A valid driver's license will be required for driving positions only.
