Security Officer Lead serves as an important part of the Corporate Security team by supporting and overseeing the shift Security team while helping maintain a safe, secure, and welcoming environment for patients, visitors, staff, and the broader healthcare community. This role combines leadership, vigilance, professionalism, and compassionate customer service to support the safety and security of people, property, and healthcare operations. The Security Officer Lead provides guidance and support to Security Officers, assists with training and daily operations, reviews reports and documentation, monitors staffing and equipment, responds to security concerns and emergencies, and serves as a positive representative of the organization. Strong communication, sound judgment, accountability, leadership skills, and the ability to balance security protocols with compassionate service are critical to success in this position. As a Security Officer Lead, a typical day might include the following: Supporting and overseeing Security Officers throughout the assigned shift while promoting a positive, professional, and service-focused environment Providing training, guidance, and support to Security Officers and maintaining accurate training and personnel records Reviewing Security Officer reports for completeness and accuracy and forwarding documentation to the Security Manager or Director for review Ensuring Security Officers report for duty in the proper uniform and have the equipment necessary to perform their assigned responsibilities safely and effectively Conducting patrols and monitoring facilities to maintain a secure environment for healthcare operations, adapting to indoor and outdoor posts as required Monitoring daily security operations and escalating irregular activities, incidents, concerns, and operational issues to the Security Leadership Team Assisting with staff scheduling and monitoring overtime, call-outs, tardiness, and other staffing-related matters Serving as a designated department representative on committees, meetings, and other organizational activities Providing professional and compassionate customer service while remaining vigilant for and addressing potential security threats Managing access control systems and completing data entry, incident reporting, and other administrative tasks using computer systems and Microsoft Office Responding to emergencies and participating in crisis intervention and de-escalation using certified training techniques Communicating effectively with patients, visitors, staff, leadership, and other members of a diverse healthcare community Supporting Security Leadership with the day-to-day coordination and administration of shift operations The Security Officer Lead role might be for you if: You are a dependable and approachable leader who can support and guide Security Officers in a healthcare environment You remain calm, professional, and solution-focused when responding to security concerns, emergencies, and challenging situations You communicate clearly and respectfully with patients, visitors, staff, leadership, and individuals from diverse backgrounds You demonstrate strong judgment and understand when an incident or operational concern should be escalated to Security Leadership You are organized and comfortable reviewing reports, maintaining records, monitoring schedules, and completing administrative responsibilities You are comfortable using computer systems, data entry tools, and Microsoft Office for reporting and administrative tasks You can balance security protocols with compassionate customer service and a positive organizational presence You demonstrate accountability and attention to detail when ensuring officers are properly equipped, appropriately uniformed, and prepared for duty You are comfortable working independently and as part of a team while adapting to changing operational needs You are committed to helping protect people, property, and the quality of the healthcare environment This is a Full Time position, 6:00 a.m. - 2:30 p.m. To be considered for this opportunity, you must have a High School Diploma or GED and a valid New Jersey Driver's License, with eligibility to be covered by the organization's insurance carrier. You must also be able to obtain certification in de-escalation training within 90 days of hire. At least one year of customer service, security experience, or prior military service is preferred. Proficiency in keyboarding, data entry, and Microsoft Office Suite, along with strong verbal and written communication skills, is preferred. Bilingual or multilingual language skills are a plus, depending on facility needs.
