| Primary Purpose of Organization Unit |
The position is part of the University's Office of Human Resources, within the Chancellor's Division. The department provides a wide range of customer-focused HR services, including:
- Recruitment and employment for all university positions, including EHRA faculty, non-faculty, SHRA, Exempt Professional Staff (EPS), temporary and student employees
EEO compliance, classification and salary administration- Performance management, professional development, and training
- Records management, policy and procedural administration
- Employee relations, HR information systems & data reporting
These services comply with guidelines from the University of North Carolina system's
UNC Policy Manual The Code, the N.C. Office of State Human Resources, and federal and state laws. The department supports nearly 900 benefits-eligible staff, and approximately 300 temporary employees and students. |

This position is responsible for maintaining confidentiality of all information, understanding and communicating policies, procedures, and guidelines, and recommending solutions as an extension of the Office of Human Resources. |

Job Duties and Responsibilities: The Human Resources (HR) Consultant serves as a strategic human resources partner primarily supporting the Facilities Management department (Operations, Maintenance, Planning, Construction and Design) providing expert-level guidance and operational support across a broad range of HR functions. This position's primary responsibility is to manage training and professional development initiatives, full-cycle recruitment, performance management, and disciplinary processes. The HR Consultant works closely with leaders, supervisors, staff professionals, and the Office of Human Resources (
OHR) to advance university and strategic initiatives and uphold the university's commitment to effective people management. This position will serve as an extension of the Office of Human Resources with a primary location in the Facilities Management department and is responsible for maintaining strict confidentiality of all information, communicating policies, procedures, and guidelines, and collaborating directly on all personnel matters with
OHR leadership.

- Substantial human resources knowledge and experience working in a large, complex organization
- Working knowledge of all aspects of human resources processes and procedures, including recruitment, classification, compensation, policy administration, organizational development, organizational culture, and HR information systems
- Highly skilled and experienced using online employment systems, Adobe, Banner HR, and the array of Office 365 products
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
