Position Summary
Teach courses within the Law School curriculum, with primary responsibility for Lawyering Skills (Legal Research and Writing) and additional teaching responsibilities that may include Contracts, Business Associations, or Professional Responsibility.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Teach law students at the J.D. Level.
  • Regularly produce high-quality scholarship
  • Engage in internal and external service activities, including attending law school and University meetings, serving on law school and University committees, participating in scholarly organizations or organizations related to the legal profession, delivering presentations, and providing other service to the academy, community, or legal profession.
  • Collaborate with other faculty and staff to establish a strong learning environment.
  • Perform other related duties and participate in special projects as assigned.


  • Minimum Qualifications

    • Juris Doctor from an ABA-approved law school or its equivalent from a foreign country.
    • Demonstrated potential to become an excellent teacher or a record of teaching experience.
    • Demonstrated potential to produce high-quality scholarship.
    • Demonstrated interest in serving at an urban, public, Research 1 university.

    Preferred Qualifications
    • Excellent writing and communication skills
    • Demonstrated ability to mentor students.
    • Interest in legal writing.
