Job Title: Manufacturing Manager

Job Purpose: Directs the development and implementation of activities in production area(s) to meet production goals, quality, and cost objectives. Manages the activities of the team and is responsible for staffing decisions, training and development, and performance management of the staff. Under the direction and supervision of the Director manages and directs manufacturing operations with overall responsibilities for hourly employees and subordinate management to meet established manufacturing goals and objectives. Prioritizes production schedules based on product introduction, equipment efficiency, and materials supply. Plans and administers procedures and budgets. Makes budgetary recommendations regarding and, at higher levels, controls capital expenditures and direct/indirect labor. Develops schedules and manpower requirements for assigned areas. Selects, develops, and evaluates personnel to ensure the efficient operation of the function.

Nature of Duties:

* Provides day-to-day direction, coordination and management of manufacturing operations, personnel, staffing, implementation and systems. Develop, implement and coordinate policies programs and procedures for assigned departments and personnel.

* Ensure that all manufactured components are produced efficiently and are consistent with company established goals for quality and customer order on-time performance.

* Manage company assets to support completion of pre-set production schedules cost effectively. Monitor and report shop labor efficiencies.

* Coordinate, recommend, and manage improvements to reduce costs, increase efficiencies, and sustain those improvements.

* Ensure quality standards and processes are used throughout manufacturing. Work constantly with Quality Assurance on continuous improvements and provide preventative and correction actions when problems occur.

* Track competencies of subordinates and provide leadership, development, and training as required.

* Attend daily/weekly staff meetings and provide input regarding required department measurements.

* Design and implement equipment and programs to optimize operational efficiencies and throughput to meet customer delivery requirements.

* Implementation employee development/involvement programs to develop a qualified production staff.

* Investigates, recommends, communicates and implements new programs for process improvement.

* Provide hands-on management and follow-through on all initiatives and action steps. Communicates status of such and any issues warranting immediate knowledge, attention and/or resolution by the appropriate management personnel.

* Promote and maintain a flexible, cooperative, team oriented and customer focus within and between departments.

* Perform miscellaneous requests, duties, corrective action/change, quality and special projects as required by upper management.

Education and Experience:

* Bachelors degree in Manufacturing, Engineering, Management and/or related field to fulfill essential functions.

* SMT experience is required, prefer >15 years work experience in manufacturing with >5 years of direct management experience.

* Experience in managing Continuous Improvement Processes, Lean Manufacturing, SMT Manufacturing, Strategic Initiatives, Special Projects, Capacity Analysis and Cost Reductions, AS9100, ISO 9001 and environmental standards.

* Ability to effectively interpret and translate instructions to other employees in a professional and respectful manner. Effectively communicate with clients and fellow employees both verbally and written.

* Ability to define problems, collects data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions. Excellent organizational, multi-tasking and prioritizing skills. Communicate honestly with all customers and provide solutions to problems in a timely fashion.

* Regular and on-time attendance. Hours regularly exceed 40 hours per week. Occasional travel may be required.

* Project a positive business image, lead by example, be a team player, work under minimal guidance/direction and be a self starter.

* Ability to acquire a security clearance.
