The position is responsible for a wide range of activities that support the financial planning, analysis, reporting, financial oversight, risk mitigation and the overall business activities for the Division of Student Life financial portfolio. The position oversees the Finance and Business Analysis team of five professionals who deliver financial support to the division's departments. This role advises the team on questions arising from departmental operations by participating in department meetings and partnering with staff to identify standard processes and promote crosscollaboration. The position emphasizes consistent application of accounting and operational standards across the division, helping to prevent silos or inconsistencies. This includes, and is not limited to, oversight of customized reporting, control and approval of general ledger transactions, month- and year-end fiscal close procedures, units' budget development, business process improvement initiatives, and multi-year strategic planning and reporting efforts. Success in this role requires strong attention to detail and organization, along with demonstrated experience leading and mentoring a highperforming team to ensure equitable, consistent, and highquality support for all departments. Student Life Finance Student Life Financial Planning and Reporting is a centralized service center for the Division of Student Life that provides support in all financial and accounting areas. Staff collaborate with departments to understand their operational processes in order to best advise them on appropriate accounting and financial practices. They assist with budget planning and financial management best practices, financial reporting and analysis, billing and invoicing services and more. What Your Key Responsibilities Will Be Financial Planning, Analysis, Reporting Enhances, implements, and enforces financial policies and procedures ensuring fiscal responsibility, efficiency, and compliance. Oversees financial reporting to ensure the integrity and accuracy of financial information within all divisional funding sources including auxiliary revenue, capital projects, gifts, grants, and general funds. Reviews these with the SL Finance team and leadership for divisional awareness and to ensure proper action is taken when applicable. Leads and oversees the division's annual budgeting processes which includes assisting with creating budget workbooks, planning, and leading budget trainings and meeting with Division Directors to establish their annual budgets. This role also leads the coordination of CU Student Government budgeting process alongside student leaders in the Finance Board. Ensures proper use of revenue and expense speedtypes and account codes for reporting and analytical purposes. Directs the Finance and Business Analysis team for all monthly and fiscal year-end close including quality checks and journal entry approvals. Works closely with their team to ensure efficiency in program financial management, providing applicable training and education, discussing process improvements, and providing financial and accounting procedure guidance. Supports business process improvement initiatives by defining workflows, documenting procedures, strengthening internal controls, and ensuring business objectives, while building team competence in these areas. Liaises with the Campus Controller's Office, Budget Fiscal Planning to maintain consistency and ensure accounting and campus guidelines are being met. Ensure effective and appropriate use of the campus budgeting system, Anaplan, by coordinating required trainings, monitoring target dates, and providing guidance to the team on roles and responsibilities. Collaborate with Student Life Finance team members and campus partners to identify system improvements and communicate evolving business needs. Leadership and Supervision Provide leadership, supervision, performance evaluation and training, for a team of 5.0 FTE accounting/financial professionals. Ensure that consistent and high-quality results are developed and shared in a timely manner, while honoring the diverse and demanding needs of very distinct but interrelated business units. Participate broadly in the department's strategic planning and evaluation efforts and assist in the establishment of priorities for the finance team. Special Projects & Other Duties Direct, manage, or assist with special projects assigned by the Director or Student Affairs Leadership, ensuring deadlines and outcome goals are met. Support CU Student Government at the Finance Board evening meetings as a source of financial expertise. What You Should Know This is a hybrid work opportunity. What We Can Offer The annual salary range for this position is $104,000 - $115,000. Onboarding assistance may be available per Student Life guidelines. What We Require Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in accounting, finance, business administration, or closely related field. Equivalent combination of education and experience may substitute. 3+ years of progressively responsible experience in fiscal management, business analysis, and/or financial modeling at a large, complex organization. 2+ years of supervisory experience related to finance staff oversight. Experience working as a user of and integrating data from multiple complex database management systems. Experience in a higher education environment involving multiple funding sources. Experience with PeopleSoft financial system and COGNOS reporting. Experience with Anaplan budgeting and reporting software. Advanced skill in paying attention to detail and excellent ability to learn new skills. Ability to coordinate multiple projects simultaneously, meet inflexible due dates, and work independently. Professional and collegial demeanor considering stressful timelines and complex situations.
