The School of Medicine Dean's Office Business and Organizational Specialist provides high-level project management support for moderate to complex issues in alignment with the School of Medicine's strategic plan and other organizational priorities. This position typically works independently and may receive little instruction on planning, researching, and addressing administrative, financial, and other operational concerns to identify improvement opportunities, monitor project performance, use metrics to set deadlines, and assist the organization with enhancing accountability and transparency The ideal candidate demonstrates strong written, verbal and interpersonal skills, including negotiation skills, executive-level writing skills, and high-level political acumen, that can be applied to relationship-building, change management, and handling sensitive situations. This position reports to the Dean's Office Project Team Manager and supports key partners throughout the Dean's Office, the UC Davis School of Medicine, and UC Davis Health.

Minimum Qualifications - For full consideration, applicants are encouraged to upload license and/or certification if required of the position
- Bachelor's degree in related field or discipline and/or equivalent training and experience.
- Experienced with consulting and relationship-building with faculty and staff at all levels of the organization.
- Experienced with coaching, facilitation, and exercising influence.
- Demonstrated skill as a seasoned, experienced organizational development and project lead professional with a full understanding of industry practices and UC Davis policies and procedures to resolve a wide range of issues.
- Demonstrated knowledge of organizational development and project management concepts to perform analysis of complex situations and exercise sound analytical and problem-solving skills to determine appropriate interventions and improvements.
- Strong project management and leadership skills to design, implement and monitor a complex project by parsing out long-term projects into intermediate and near-term tasks.
- Excellent organizational skills to determine workload priorities to enable the timely completion of tasks.
- Demonstrates good judgment, with appropriate consultation and coaching, in selecting methods and techniques for achieving solutions involving diverse partners.
- Ability to quickly ascertain group dynamics and can handle sensitive situations appropriately and effectively.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively and independently under pressure with a minimum of direction, while appropriately identifying issues that require escalation to the Project Team Manager or other members of the Dean's Office.
- Exercise diplomacy to represent the Dean's Office and communicate effectively with internal and external partners.
- Ability to manage administrative and fiscal information; and to comprehend such information to make timely and correct decisions.
Preferred Qualifications
- Preferred training, experience and/or certifications in project management, quality improvement, Lean Six Sigma or other related methodologies.
- Advanced knowledge of organizational development, change management, and project management theories, models, and approaches to design and implement complex interventions.
- Advanced knowledge of UC Davis processes, protocols, and policies.

The Dean and the Dean's Office team provide oversight, support, and guidance to the departments and maintain a collaborative connection between UC Davis Campus and UC Davis Medical Center to support the mission areas of education, research, clinical care, and community.
