The Corporate Banking Relationship Management team is responsible for acquiring, orchestrating, and growing entire client and ecosystem relationships, deepening relationships with key positions in late-stage companies, and serving as a thought leader in advisory sales. Advises senior leaders in late-stage companies and provides beneficial referrals by cross selling across the entire commercial platform to address client business needs; orchestrating cross-functional teams to optimize the client experience; and building real relationships to differentiate the bank with all key influencers in the technology ecosystem. Ensures controls are in place, managed and addressed and elevates and mitigates any emerging risks within the team across the business unit.


Responsibilities

  • Client Relationship Management - Serve as primary relationship management contact for large portfolio of late-stage clients, identifying needs, working with internal partners to structure customized solutions to solve complex client issues. Ensure high quality products, service and platforms are available to clients. Leverage expertise about credit and non-credit banking products, platforms, and services, to recommend appropriate solutions to meet client needs (SVB Go, financing solutions, private banking, wealth advisory, cash management services, FX, trade finance, payments, cards, cash management). Takes a proactive approach in anticipating client needs and recognizing opportunities to cross-sell. For all cross-sell opportunities and referrals, coordinate with internal product partners to ensure the quality and timely completion of all such cross-sell projects.
  • Business Development and Growth - A key player in their client's industry, and viewed as an advisor, is readily engaged on the pulse on the technology ecosystem, trends, and identify how they would impact clients and prospects, providing insights aligned with client needs and market trends. Maintain relationships with existing partners and external sources, to identify and engage qualified prospects while building the muscle for outbound prospecting and broader market development. Responsible for new business development, expansion of existing relationships, and advancement of the brand in the market, including identifying and hosting unique events both for personal engagement, as well as professional development to connect with clients, prospects, and relevant referral sources. Generate and foster strong network of referral partners/external sources, generating qualified prospects. Leveraging deep expertise in their sector and industry, position recommend, advise, originate, and negotiate credit and financing solutions and structure for client needs. Partner with Corporate Banking Credit Solutions, Senior Credit Officers and the Sales Originations teams as applicable to support the management and execution of credit deals (net new opportunities & modifications to existing borrowers).
  • Cross-functional Collaboration and Leadership - Lead team interactions with key cross functional partners. Collaborate with appropriate business units to achieve success drivers and corporate goals. Mentor and guide team members to further develop their client relationship, business development and financial solutions skills.

Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree and 4 years of experience in OR High School Diploma or GED and 8 years of experience in

Preferred Area of Study: Finance, Economics, Business Administration, Liberal Arts (i.e. English, History, etc.),or related field; MBA or relevant advanced degree

Preferred Area of Experience: Commercial Banking in Credit Solutions and/or Relationship Management, Venture Capital, Private Equity, Sales Originations

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 6 years of experience in commercial banking, venture capital or Relationship Management and/or industry-specific knowledge in technology
  • Bachelor's Degree
  • Strong relationship management and ability to engage with clients
  • Strong focus and ownership of the overall client experience
  • Self starter, take charge to solve problems, acts like a business owner
  • Brings a positive attitude and can quickly adapt to change
  • Ability to work with remote resources and take ownership of tasks to drive to results based outcomes
  • Strong interest and experience focused on the Innovation economy and Venture Capital/Private Equity space
  • Ability to promote strong risk culture and sustainable risk/return thinking
  • Strong credit acumen
  • Venture-backed technology and healthcare companies and solutions

If hired in New York City, New York the base pay for this position is generally between $166,000 and $220,000.00. Actual starting base pay will be determined based on skills, experience, location, and other non-discriminatory factors permitted by law. For some roles, total compensation may also include variable incentives, bonuses, benefits, and/or other awards as outlined in the offer of employment.
