All faculty at Georgia State are, as part of their essential job duties, expected to: (1) be physically present on-campus as needed to contribute to Georgia State's in-person educational experience, and (2) be able to teach in each of the following instructional modalities - in-person, online, or blended/hybrid - as determined by their Department Chair or Dean.

The Department of Public Management and Policy ( PMAP) at Georgia State University is nationally recognized for its research, teaching, and service in public administration, nonprofit management, urban planning, and policy analysis. The department offers a range of degree programs at all levels, including the Bachelor of Science in Public Policy, Master of Public Administration ( MPA), Master of Public Policy ( MPP), Ph.D. in Public Policy, and a variety of certificate programs. PMAP is home to a diverse group of faculty members who are internationally known for their research on public finance, social policy, public and nonprofit management, health policy, social equity, and urban governance. Faculty regularly collaborate with major research centers at the Andrew Young School, such as the Public Finance Research Cluster, the Georgia Policy Labs, and the Georgia Health Policy Center, positioning the department as a leader in addressing key societal issues through applied research. The department's commitment to experiential learning ensures that students engage with real-world policy challenges through internships, community-based projects, and public service, preparing them to become effective leaders in the public and nonprofit sectors.

The Department of Public Management and Policy at Andrew Young School of Policy Studies at Georgia State University invites applications for a non-tenure-track, Clinical Assistant Professor position beginning August 2026. The position is a nine-month appointment with annual review, in-person and online teaching responsibilities, and the possibility of summer teaching. A Ph.D. in Public Administration, Public Policy, Urban Planning, Urban Studies, Political Science or a closely related field is required. ABDs may apply, but degree must be in hand by the start of employment. A DPA and D.Ed. are not sufficient for this position. University teaching experience is also required. Priority will be given to candidates who can teach courses at both the undergraduate and graduate level in the Policy Analytics and Urban Planning and Policy specializations (e.g., Data Analysis and Visualization, Coding in R, GIS Applications to Planning and Policy Analysis, Urban Demography and Analysis) but we will consider those with teaching experience in other public affairs areas. Interest and experience in teaching/supervising internship courses, client-based capstones, and other forms of experiential learning programs is also preferred. The workload of the position is 80% teaching and 20% service. Application review will begin on June 15, 2026, and will continue until the position is filled.

This position is located on the Atlanta campus of Georgia State University and requires in-person, on campus-based work. The Andrew Young School maintains a flexible work environment.
