The Haverhill YMCA is seeking a Director of Education Operations to oversee education programming in Amesbury and Georgetown. This position provides leadership and operational direction for year-round early learning and out-of-school-time programs, as well as seasonal programming and summer camp.

As a key member of the YMCA leadership team, you'll ensure that programs meet the needs of local families, maintain high standards of quality and safety, comply with Massachusetts Department of Early Education and Care (EEC) regulations, and align with the YMCA's mission, vision, and strategic priorities.


What You'll Do
Lead Education Operations

  • Provide overall leadership and operational oversight for education programs in Amesbury and Georgetown.
  • Ensure programs are safe, engaging, developmentally appropriate, and responsive to the needs of children and families.
  • Monitor enrollment, participation, staffing, space, equipment, and program needs to support continued growth and sustainability.
  • Evaluate program effectiveness and use data and community trends to identify opportunities for improvement and expansion.
  • Provide leadership for both year-round and seasonal programs, including summer camp.


Lead & Develop Your Team

  • Recruit, hire, supervise, coach, and evaluate childcare and education staff.
  • Ensure appropriate staffing levels and adult-to-child ratios are maintained.
  • Provide staff with the tools, resources, and support needed to deliver high-quality programming.
  • Coordinate and facilitate staff training, professional development, and ongoing learning.
  • Build a positive, collaborative team culture focused on quality, accountability, and continuous improvement.


Build Strong Community Relationships

  • Develop and maintain positive relationships with families, school administrators, licensing agencies, community organizations, and other partners.
  • Serve as a knowledgeable and responsive resource for parents, staff, and community partners.
  • Address questions, concerns, and complaints professionally and appropriately.
  • Stay informed about out-of-school-time and early education trends and use that knowledge to strengthen local programming.


Ensure Quality & Compliance

  • Maintain compliance with Massachusetts Department of Early Education and Care (EEC) regulations, YMCA policies, and applicable federal, state, and local requirements.
  • Ensure required documentation, records, training, and licensing requirements are maintained.
  • Monitor program quality and curriculum implementation to ensure programs provide positive, age-appropriate experiences for children.
  • Promote a culture of safety, inclusion, and high-quality care across all programs.


Support the YMCA Mission

  • Collaborate with the Haverhill YMCA Executive Director, Association leadership, and other YMCA departments to support strategic priorities.
  • Participate in special events, fundraising initiatives, and community engagement efforts.
  • Support marketing and promotion of YMCA education programs and services.
  • Help develop long-term plans for the growth and success of education programs in Amesbury and Georgetown.


What You'll Bring

  • Strong leadership experience in licensed early education, out-of-school-time programming, or a related field.
  • Experience supervising, coaching, and developing childcare staff.
  • Strong knowledge of child development, childcare operations, and program quality.
  • Familiarity with Massachusetts EEC licensing regulations and requirements.
  • Experience managing programs across multiple classrooms, age groups, or locations preferred.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining high standards of quality and compliance.
  • Ability to build strong relationships with families, staff, schools, licensing agencies, and community partners.

Qualifications
What You'll Bring

  • Three or more years of management experience in early childhood, school-age, after-school, or youth programming; experience in a YMCA or nonprofit organization preferred.
  • Bachelor's degree in Education, Human Services, Social Services, Child Development, or a related field preferred; equivalent experience may be considered.
  • Strong knowledge of early childhood and out-of-school time programming, including staff supervision, program operations, and quality standards.
  • Experience managing or supporting financial assistance programs and funding provided through the Commonwealth preferred.
  • Knowledge of Massachusetts Department of Early Education and Care (EEC) regulations and licensing requirements.
  • Strong leadership, organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to build and maintain effective relationships with families, schools, community organizations, licensing agencies, and other partners.
  • Ability to manage multiple programs, priorities, and teams while maintaining high standards of quality and compliance.
  • Commitment to creating safe, inclusive, and high-quality experiences for children and families.


Requirements

  • Must complete the Massachusetts Department of Early Education and Care (EEC) fingerprinting requirement prior to the first day of employment.
  • Must provide and maintain all required documents and certifications within the employee/educator file in accordance with EEC requirements.
  • Must complete all required training, certifications, and program orientation in accordance with EEC regulations and the YMCA of the North Shore Training Plan.


Work Environment & Physical Requirements

  • Ability to lift and carry up to 40 pounds.
  • Ability to respond appropriately and promptly to unexpected emergencies.
  • Ability to work in education and school-age program environments, including both indoor and outdoor settings.
  • Ability to travel between Amesbury and Georgetown program locations as needed.
