Sales Manager

The Sales Manager is accountable and responsible for the sales and retention of the GHC-SCW health insurance products. The incumbent manages and directs the execution of sales plans and initiatives in conjunction with the GHC-SCW strategic plan and goals. The Sales Manager works in the field with sales representatives to identify opportunities; and provides direction, guidance and supervision to sales-related personnel. In addition, the Sales Manager works with and develops the annual sales plan in support of organizational strategy and objectives; and recommends, implements and executes sales policies and practices. The Sales Manager works under the general guidance, direction and supervision of the Director of Market Strategy, aligned under the following priorities;

1. Training, teaching, and coaching of Account Executives and Sales Executives
2. Achieving targeted sales growth
3. Retaining existing customers
4. Managing customer relationships
5. Managing agency distribution system
6. Solving problems

JOB SPECIFIC MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

1. Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in Business, Sales and Marketing or relevant field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
2. A minimum of five (5) years of sales experience with a health insurance organization. Hands-on knowledge of group insurance needs and capabilities. Managerial experience with coaching/mentoring of sales staff. Experience in Healthcare related and / or insurance sales is highly desirable.
3. Ability to obtain and maintain an active Wisconsin health/life insurance license required. Possession of a Resident Insurance Intermediary Agent License in Accident & Health and Life with the State of Wisconsin is preferred. Must obtain license within six (6) months of employment.
4. Ability to provide reliable transportation to GHC-SCW facilities and offsite meetings.
5. Knowledge of the principles and practices of sales and marketing. A demonstrable capacity to keep abreast of new technology trends.
6. Excellent formal presentation skills before both small and larger groups.
7. Excellent written communication and verbal communication and listening skills both in-person and on the phone.
8. Ability to make effective group presentations.
9. Knowledge of the principles and practices of supervision and administration as applied to the management of personnel. Good supervisory skills required with ability to provide leadership to staff.
10. Excellent customer service skills. Ability to be culturally sensitive and work with diverse populations.
11. Knowledge of computer-based software programs such as MS Office Suite including word processing, spreadsheet, calendar and email.
12. Ability to maintain organizational, personnel and patient confidentiality required. Knowledge of or ability to learn HIPAA privacy requirements.
13. Organization, planning, scheduling and project management skills.

15. Ability to develop goals and objectives, and establishing priorities
