About the College/Unit/Department
As the 4th largest public college of education in the country and the 3rd largest college at UGA, the Mary Frances Early College of Education ( MFE COE) improves the lives of residents of Georgia and beyond through our instruction, research, and service. The MFE COE is a comprehensive college with disciplines focused on teacher preparation, counseling and human development, communication sciences, human movement sciences, career development, student affairs, and educational administration and policy. We place significant emphasis on graduate education with approximately 40% of our students at the graduate level, making us the second largest college at UGA with respect to graduate education.

Named for Mary Frances Early, UGA's first African American graduate, in February 2020, the MFE COE has a long and distinguished history as a leader in diversity, equity, and inclusion. Position Summary
The Academic Services Professional supports student success and timely degree completion through academic advising, program administration, and student services. This position differs from Academic Services Paraprofessional roles in its higher level of autonomy, leadership responsibilities, and strategic decision-making.
Reporting directly to the Senior Associate Dean for Academic Programs and Graduate Education, this position provides leadership and oversight for undergraduate advising across the college. Responsibilities include coordinating advising staff for all undergraduate programs, directly supporting two Lead Academic Advisors and providing indirect supervision to 8-10 Academic Advisors. The role also oversees advising office operations, leads strategic initiatives for the Mary Frances Early College of Education, manages budget development and related fiscal responsibilities, serves on committees, supports the Office of Academic Programs, and performs other duties as assigned.

Knowledge of university and college degree requirements; Interpret and communicate university and degree requirements to students, faculty, and staff. Excellent organizational and time management skills; effective problem-solving skills. Use Internet, databases, and Microsoft Office. Work with undergraduate students. Establish and maintain effective collegial working relationships.

Administrative Duties: Oversee all administrative tasks related to advising Teacher Preparation and Communication Sciences majors, including major admissions processes, offering solutions for course scheduling conflicts, registration, curriculum changes, etc. Coordinate with the Director of Academic Advising about goals, training, and development for advisors and other college initiatives. Assist with budget development.

Duties/Responsibilities
Supervision: Supervise and support the Teacher Preparation/ CMSD advising team, comprised of four academic advisor II positions. Organize and distribute projects and work assignments related to current college initiatives (e.g., retention planning for students); evaluate senior advisors' performance on a bi-annual basis; coach and provide leadership/development of advisors; and conduct staff meetings.

Academic Advising: Advise approximately 100 Teacher Preparation/ CMSD students. Provide additional advising support for students on an as-needed basis. Manage academic status reports, informing students of changes in probationary and dismissal status, and advising students of relevant policy regarding these changes.

Advising Community Engagement: Attend and participate in advising community committees and council meetings; engage with advisement committee work across campus; and engage with faculty program coordinators in the college to support curriculum revision. Support strategic initiatives in the COE ( DEI, special populations support, etc).

Recruitment and Student Engagement: Collaborate with the Office of Student Engagement to support events and programming for current students and communicate with prospective students interested in Teacher Preparation majors. Set production goals for the year at yearly planning retreats and maintain records of benchmarks and works in progress; assist with strategic planning, assessment, and advisor survey feedback.
