| Posting Summary |
The Industry Consultant Program engages working professionals with talent acquisition, recruiting, or related human resources expertise to provide individualized, employer-informed career guidance to Rutgers-New Brunswick undergraduate students. Industry Consultants supplement the University's career-readiness education by helping students understand current recruiting practices, employer expectations, and strategies for obtaining internships and full-time employment.
This is a focused, part-time co-adjutant appointment for professionals contributing specialized industry expertise during a defined academic semester. The assignment is limited to virtual student consultations, program training and check-ins, and occasional consultation with Career Success Strategists on current recruiting practices and employer expectations.
Industry Consultants provide one-on-one virtual career consultations addressing:
- Resume development and review
- Interview preparation and strategies
- Internship and full-time job-search strategies
- Professional networking and LinkedIn
- Employer expectations and contemporary recruiting practices
- Salary and offer negotiation, when appropriate
Each Industry Consultant will:
- Manage up to four 30-minute virtual student appointments per week, for a maximum of two advising hours weekly, Monday through Friday.
- Conduct appointments through the Rutgers Handshake virtual-meeting platform.
- Complete an initial virtual orientation and training session.
- Participate in one professional-development or program check-in per month.
- Serve as an industry-content resource to Career Success Strategists when consultation is needed regarding current recruiting practices or employer expectations.
- Maintain appropriate student confidentiality and comply with applicable program and university requirements.
The appointment does not include a continuing student caseload, general departmental responsibilities, administrative coverage, or staff supervision. It concludes at the end of the designated academic semester. Reappointment for a subsequent semester is contingent upon program needs, satisfactory performance, available funding, and required university approvals.
The stipend for this appointment is $1,250 per semester. |

Qualifications
| Minimum Education and Experience |
- Bachelor's Degree.
- Currently working as a professional in a Talent Acquisition capacity (i.e. early talent acquisition, hiring, training, etc) within one of our 6 career interest communities. *Preference is given to higher appointment demand areas, including Engineering and Tech, Business & HR, Health & Life Sciences.
- Well-versed in resume development, interviewing strategies, and contemporary job/internship search techniques.
- Must be able to commit to 2 hours per week virtually.
- Exceptional oral and written communication skills.
- Strong customer service skills.
- Comfortable working in a virtual setting, interacting 1:1 with student clientele.
Preferred Qualificiations
- 2 years of experience recruiting entry-level undergraduate talent for internship and/or full-time positions and/or 2 years of experience working with the undergraduate student population in an advising capacity.
- Familiarity with the Handshake Platform.

Under Policy 100.3.1 Immunization Policy for Covered Individuals, if employment will commence during Flu Season, Rutgers University may require certain prospective employees to provide proof that they are vaccinated against Seasonal Influenza for the current Flu Season, unless the University has granted the individual a medical or religious exemption.
