Schedule

Work Type: Full Time
Part-Time and PRN opportunities may occasionally be available

Shift: Primarily daytime hours, with schedules varying by practice and location. Early/late hours, weekends, or holidays may occasionally be required based on department needs.

Compensation

Minimum to Midpoint Pay Rate: $21.54 $25.31/hour

About the Role

As a Medical Assistant, you will play an important role in delivering an exceptional patient experience in a collaborative, team-based environment. Under the direct supervision and responsibility of a physician or physician assistant, you will assist with clinical and administrative aspects of the medical practice while helping ensure safe, efficient, and compassionate patient care.

What You'll Do
  • Provide excellent customer service and create a welcoming patient experience

  • Prepare patients for examinations and procedures

  • Collect, communicate, and accurately document patient information

  • Perform phlebotomy and point-of-care testing

  • Assist providers with minor procedures

  • Collect and process laboratory specimens

  • Safely operate medical equipment

  • Provide patients with appropriate instructions and education

  • Handle and administer medications according to regulatory standards and organizational policies under the direct supervision of a physician or physician assistant

  • Maintain accurate and complete medical records

  • Coordinate requests for prescriptions and medical information

  • Prepare and maintain patient care areas for safe and efficient care delivery

  • Follow organizational policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements

  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Manager/Supervisor

What We're Looking For Education
  • High School Diploma or GED required

  • Completion of a medical assisting program or postsecondary medical assisting program accredited to prepare the Medical Assistant to take a national certification examination is preferred

Experience
  • Medical Assistant experience preferred

  • Medical Assistant experience is not required for graduates within two years of completing an accredited medical assisting program

  • One year of recent Medical Assistant experience in a physician's office or hospital outpatient department may be accepted in lieu of a degree/diploma from an accredited medical assisting program

Certifications

One of the following Medical Assistant certifications is preferred:

  • CMA American Association of Medical Assistants

  • CCMA National Healthcareer Association

  • RMA American Medical Technologists

BLS American Heart Association required and must be obtained within the first 90 days of hire.

Additional Qualifications
  • Knowledge of medical terminology

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills

  • Basic computer skills

  • Ability to work effectively in a team-based environment

  • Flexibility to accommodate early/late hours, weekends, or holidays as needed
