Team Leader, Traffic/Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS), San Antonio, TX Halff has an exciting opportunity for a Traffic/Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) Engineer, with a Texas Professional Engineer (PE) license to join our growing Traffic/ITS practice as a Team Leader in San Antonio, TX. The ideal candidate will have 10+ years of experience leading traffic engineering studies, traffic signal design, and ITS design projects, along with a proven ability to successfully manage projects, develop client relationships, and mentor technical teams. What you will do:
- Manages professional employees, project managers and large, complex technical or business support or production operations teams.
- Ensures project and department milestones and goals are achieved while adhering to approved budgets.
- Oversee and manage multiple Traffic/ITS projects simultaneously, ensuring they are completed on time, within budget, and in accordance with client specifications and industry standards.
- Lead and mentor a team of professionals, technicians, and support staff, providing guidance, feedback, and support to foster professional growth and development.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, serving as the primary point of contact, understanding their needs, and ensuring client satisfaction throughout the project lifecycle.
- Provide technical leadership and expertise in design, analysis, and problem-solving, assisting team members in resolving complex technical challenges.
- Ensure that all deliverables meet quality standards, regulatory requirements, and client expectations.
- Monitor project budgets, allocate resources effectively, and identify opportunities to optimize project efficiency and profitability.
- Identify potential project risks and develop mitigation strategies to minimize any adverse impacts on project outcomes.
- Accountable for the performance, development, and results of a team within the practice, office, or region.
- Adapts strategic plans and priorities to address resource and operational challenges.
- Makes sound business and project decisions while collaborating with directors and operations leadership to achieve organizational goals.
What You Will Need:
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or an ABET-accredited equivalent engineering discipline required; Master's degree preferred.
- 10+ years of experience delivering traffic engineering studies, traffic signal design, and Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) projects.
- 2+ years of project management experience with a demonstrated ability to successfully deliver projects from inception through completion, including budgeting, resource allocation, and the use of project management methodologies and tools.
- Texas Professional Engineer (PE) license required.
- Professional Traffic Operations Engineer (PTOE) certification preferred.
- IMSA Level II certification preferred.
- Valid driver's license.
- Familiarity with applicable industry codes, standards, and regulations.
- Proficiency with Synchro/SimTraffic, MicroStation, OpenRoads Designer (ORD), Autodesk Civil 3D, and Microsoft Office.
- Strong leadership, communication, and team management skills, with the ability to motivate teams and collaborate effectively with clients and cross-functional stakeholders.
- Excellent organizational, time management, problem-solving, analytical, and decision-making abilities, including the ability to adapt to changing priorities and work effectively under pressure.
- Experience with GIS applications is a plus.
- Ability to travel to project sites and access job sites and construction areas as needed.
- Prolonged periods of sitting or standing at a desk and working on a computer.
- Must be able to lift up to 20 pounds.
