Job Description
ECU Department of Student Health Services is currently seeking several Emergency Medical Technicians to join Campus Emergency Medical Services (Campus EMS).
Campus EMS shall provide first responder BLS emergency response to on-campus emergencies, standby for on-campus events, and provide emergency education to students, faculty, staff, and other members of the university community.
In addition, Campus EMS shall collaborate with all supporting first response agencies to keep our campus safe and promote the health and well-being of the entire campus.

  • Providing on-campus 911 response to support Greenville Fire & Rescue and Pitt County EMS (fall and spring semesters).
  • Medical standby at various on-campus events, including Campus Recreation and Wellness club sports events, ECU football games, Barefoot on the Mall, Commencement and more
  • Campus emergency education to faculty and students
  • Student Health Services clinical support


Campus EMS are paid student employees of ECU Student Health Services.
On-Campus 911 response is staffed Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays during the fall and spring semesters. There is no summer 911 response for Campus EMS.
Meetings, mandatory training, and other campus events may take place on other days of the week, both in person and virtual.
Hours per week will vary depending on campus events, mandatory meetings/trainings, and 911 shift coverage. Campus EMS team members are not required to work 911 response every weekend but should have flexible availability to ensure they are contributing members of the team.
GPA Requirement Minimum of 2.0
Preferred (Majors, Experience, GPA, etc.)
Candidates MUST hold a current EMT-B certification in the state of North Carolina.

  • Candidates must be able to commit to regular evening, overnight and weekend availability each semester.
  • Candidates must hold a valid driver's license.
  • Strong preference will be given to freshman applicants. Sophomores may be considered depending on the number of positions available. Juniors, seniors, graduate students, and faculty/staff will not be considered.
  • Candidates must be in good academic standing.
  • Candidates with EMS experience, including technical proficiency with clinic procedures and skills.
