Responsibilities

Summary:

Sets up and operates a variety of machine tools to produce parts and assemblies. Fits and assembles components and performs machine adjustments, repairs, and maintenance as needed.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Building & Facility Maintenance: Performs minor repairs and maintenance to buildings and facilities, including carpentry, painting, plastering, brickwork, plumbing, welding, and sheet metal fabrication.
  • Plumbing & Mechanical Systems: Installs, maintains, modifies, and repairs plumbing systems, including cutting and threading steel pipe, soldering copper pipe, cementing PVC pipes, connecting pipes, joints, valves, tanks, pumps, and other mechanical components.
  • Equipment & Machinery: Assists Maintenance Mechanics with servicing and repairing machinery and mechanical equipment. Connects air, water, gas, and oil lines and performs basic machine maintenance.
  • Electrical Support: Assists Electricians with basic electrical work, including conduit installation and wire pulling.
  • General Maintenance: Repairs or replaces common facility items such as faucets, door hardware, light bulbs, and air filters. Unclog sinks, toilets, and drains and perform janitorial duties as assigned.
  • Equipment Operation: Operates plant equipment, including forklifts, hydraulic lift hand trucks, compressors, and other mobile equipment.
  • Machine Fluids & EHS: Changes machine oil and coolant and disposes of materials in accordance with EHS requirements.
  • Safety & LOTO: Performs LOTO procedures and maintains a clean, safe, and organized work area.
  • Other Duties: Performs other duties as assigned or required.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • 1+ years of maintenance experience or machinist experience within a manufacturing environment.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, work instructions, policies, and procedures in English.

  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of basic machine mechanics, shop tools, carpentry, lathe and milling operations.
  • Ability to perform basic gauging and measuring and apply basic shop math, including algebra.
  • Ability to operate mobile equipment, including forklifts, Taylor-Dunn, scissor lifts, and walk-behind equipment.
  • Ability to prioritize work, follow instructions, work efficiently, and maintain quality standards.
  • Demonstrates awareness of and adherence to EHS and safety requirements.
  • Must be able to lift and/or move up to 30 pounds regularly.

The employee is responsible for maintaining fitness-for-duty while holding the above-described position and should be able to perform the essential tasks of the position in a safe, appropriate and effective manner. This refers to the physical, mental and emotional duties of the job.

  • Must be able to lift/move 30 lbs. (may not exceed per EHS policies)
  • Must be able to stand for long periods of time
  • Reaching above and below, stooping, kneeling, crouching, and bending.
  • Need to be able to wear safety steel toe shoes and walk around shop floor environment as needed.
  • Be able to remove dangling jewelry for shop floor assigned tasks, and wear hearing protection as needed.
