Limited Radiologic Technolgist

Under general supervision, performs diverse technical radiographic assignments exercising skills, judgment, and knowledge of the principles and methods of radiologic technology.

1. Knowledge of radiation protection standards, devices, techniques and radiation biology.

2. Ability to operate and care for a variety of diagnostic radiographic equipment.

3. Ability to correctly position patients for radiographic examinations including knowledge of customary alternative positioning for patients with deformities or injuries.

4. Knowledge of medical terminology covering gross structures of the body, major organs, and pathology.

5. Knowledge of medical record documentation procedures and policies including computer entering of data.

6. Ability to communicate orally and in writing.

7. Ability to communicate with persons from a variety of backgrounds.

8. Ability to obtain radiographs of patients in isolation utilizing isolation techniques.

9. Ability to initiate emergency medical procedures such as cardiac pulmonary resuscitation.

10. Ability to perform with accuracy and efficiency during periods of pressure and stress.

11. Ability to work with precision, utilizing dexterity in making fine, coordinated movements.

12. Knowledge of recent literature and developments in the field.

13. Ability to evaluate recorded images for technical quality.

14. Ability to use independent judgment to establish technical parameters for producing diagnostic radiographs.

1. Certification by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists with limited scope of practice in radiography.

2. Permit to Practice as required by the State of Iowa for all radiographers operating ionizing radiation emitting equipment.
